Hi! My name’s Caroline and I’m from the Philippines. I speak English, Tagalog and Hiligaynon. I love reading motivational books. I also love expressing myself through writing. I love staying indoors but I also enjoy the company of others. I enjoy talking with different kinds of people. I work as an ESL tutor and I’ve been enjoying my work for almost 5 years already. I’ve taught students from Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan and Vietnam. I’ve handled various students with different English levels. The youngest student I had was 7 years old. And my oldest student was around 60. I can work well with any age groups. I prepare the needed materials for my students, depending on their specific needs. I do this by paying attention to details. As an Asian and multilingual myself, I understand what's it's like to learn English. Because of this, I know how to relate to my students. It's easier for me to explain the lessons effectively and creatively. Since I've been exposed to ESL learners from Asia, I'm already familiar with the way they speak. I am active in the arts scene in New York and in the broader academic scene in the states, having presented at conferences along the East Coast. I am an experienced writer in all types of different styles and am comfortable with both creative and professional content, so I would love to help with essays or creative writing assignments (I am weirdly excited by new projects of that kind). Additionally, I do SAT / GRE (etc.) verbal sections, as I scored well but understand how foreign these tests can feel at times.
