After getting my Masters degree in Mathematics, I began tutoring a variety of students from Grade 1 all the way up to University level. Most students were not really interested in Math; they just wanted to pass the course. But I realized that by going a little more deeply in the subject, building their foundation, giving them challenging problems in areas of their personal interest rather than just aiming that they pass the course, many if not most students started taking a genuine interest. More interest leads to more motivation. And more motivation leads to better overall results. I am not the sort of teacher who helps students succeed by telling them what to learn.
