I am a fourth-year student at an Education University, majoring in Primary School English Education. I grew up in Singapore and served in the emergency ambulance service for several years before changing career paths to teaching. I am a well-read, multicultural individual.

My longest-running students are two Mainland boys currently in Grades 5 and 8 who are attending the Singapore International School (SISHK). I have also taught a local boy in Grade 10 at Nord Anglia, who is about to take his IGCSE. I have been teaching both of them for close to 3 years. I approach English separately, as both a subject and a language. As a school subject, I focus on drilling grammar and comprehension, as these areas can yield immediate returns. As a language, I promote conversation, games, books, movies, etc., in English, as a means of instilling motivation in the student to seek out material in the language. In my opinion, these are the only ways for long-lasting improvement in any language to take place. Read less
