I am a hard-working, motivated individual. I believe my consistent placement in the top ten in my grade each year of high school is a testament to my academic ability. In addition, I have attained full Academic Colours throughout my senior phase of high school and matriculated with distinctions for all seven of my subjects, including Mathematics, Physical Sciences and Accounting. I am a dynamic person who thrives on academic challenge and, as such, has been exposed to various facets of scholastic life. I have enthusiastically participated in many Mathematics Olympiads, competitions and challenges. My research project on animal magnetoreception won a medal in the Eskom Science Expo, and my science essay received an award in the Royal Schools National Science Essay Competition.

My experience ranges from a babysitter and volunteer Sunday school teacher, to a tutor of students from Grade 1 to Grade 12, and manager of a tutoring company, achieved whilst completing my degree in Politics and Anthropology. These experiences have grown my patience, perseverance, and willingness to be creative with teaching methods. I enjoy teaching as much as I enjoy learning, and I eagerly embrace challenges and opportunities to help people. I am coherent in my expression of ideas, as is demonstrated by completion of the Cambridge AS Levels English course, involvement as a writer for the school newspaper and website, the achievement of a creative writing award for attaining the top mark in the grade, and my participation in the debating team. These experiences have enhanced my communication skills and clarity of thought – abilities I feel to be essential in any form of teaching.
