My name is Frank (Lifu), I am 23 years old. I immigrated to Canada when I was just 10 years old. I completed my bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at McMaster University with a 3.7/4.0 GPA. I recently took a full-time position with a top structural engineering consulting firm in Hong Kong. I am very passionate in inspiring the young generation and enjoy teaching others. Thus, I consider this to be a hobby and not a job. Since moving to Canada, I mainly speak English but can also speak Mandarin. I am passionate in subjects like Math, Physics and English. Since I studied abroad starting in elementary and all the way through university, I can provide a lot of insights on the schooling experience in Canada. Although I do not have any formal training on teaching, I have had plenty of practice helping my classmates with homework assignments and test preparations. Understanding I lack in tutoring experience, I am willing to provide the first lesson free of charge to gauge my level of effectiveness.
With a busy work schedule throughout the week, I can only help on the weekends. Preferably less than 3 hours a week. I am located in Causeway Bay; I am able to conduct online tutoring as well as home tutoring at the student’s place. However, I prefer teaching in person, as I believe it is more effective. For English related learning, I strong believe the biggest factor is the English-speaking environment. I know that is what helped me learn English when I got to Canada. Watching English TV shows, hanging out with English speaking friends, practice speaking English throughout my day to day were all major contributing factors to me learning English. Another important thing is to develop a strong vocabulary. In my first 2 years in Canada, I learned 15 new words every day. Read less
