As I stated beforehand, my teaching method really depends on each student. I've known some students to like hammering out a lesson in two hours with no breaks while I've had others... Read more

So far worked with young students between the ages of 8 and 17 years old. However any age is welcome.
Each lesson really does depend on the needs of the student and their abilities in that present moment. I always try to challenge my students without pushing them too far all the while making sure they're still having fun!
Progress and learning outcomes are incredibly subjective and (I know it's getting repetitive for me to say) it really all depends on the student. I will take steps to test the students progress depending on their goals. For instance, if they are studying for a written exam then we can do practice essays, whilst if others simply want to better their analytical skills we can sit down with passages and try to discover hidden literary treasures together.
I do believe homework can be beneficial to many students. However I will always keep in mind the workload students already deal with outside of tutoring lessons before adding on any more work. In my opinion feedback is an essential tool to learn. I always try to give honest suggestions to students in order for them to implement these into their future works.
In case of an online lesson, I have a simple but trusty set up with my Mac and my noise cancelling headphones so my full attention remains on the students.
I have no problem answering quick emails or questions and encourage them. Questions sometimes arise out of necessity and there's nothing worse than waiting around for an answer!
I do think my enthusiasm for literature is contagious and therefore encourages even the most hesitant students to give literature a second try. If you don't trust me, you can ask my sister - although she is a veterinary student and has always hated the arts, I somehow got her to listen to me talk about Othello for 45 minutes simply because I made it sound interesting.
I have worked with students who had ADHD before.
