I hold a Master's Degree in Architecture and I practice the profession, with a base in Kwazulu Natal (Pietermaritzburg) and the Eastern Cape (King William's Town). I am also a certified TEFL teacher with specialties in Business English, Content & Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), and IELTS exam preparation.

I am currently learning French and German for the purpose of further studies in the engineering fields. Being a language student myself, I am convinced of the importance of the relationship between language acquisition and academic (and even professional) endeavors as a necessary component for successful career pathing in our contemporary globalized and increasingly globalizing world.

Given my academic and career background in English and Architecture, I am equipped to teach Architecture to undergraduates and postgraduates who are either English proficient learners or speakers of English as a foreign language. For speakers of English as a foreign language, I am able to integrate the teaching of language with the teaching of content.

I prefer online tutoring, although I am able to do in-person lessons upon request. My teaching approach is rigorous, yet stimulating engagements with content, always with the intention to inspire and equip learners for the real world of business and academia. Subjects I tutor are architectural coursework subjects for undergraduate and postgraduate learners, and research subjects for dissertations. For professionals in the construction industry, I tutor Business English on subjects such as the law of contracts, project management, architectural office practice, sustainability in construction, etc.

My teaching method is primarily based on enabling the learner to be an active agent of their own learning process and growth. With ownership of the journey towards an enhanced version of themselves, the learner is able to discover their strengths and improve upon areas of weakness. This inclusive, as opposed to prescriptive, teaching approach is preferred because it fast-tracks growth, critical thinking, and intentionality towards learning. Read less
