Questions for You

Q: What areas of Chemistry do you specialize in, and what level of Chemistry do you usually teach?

I specialize in Polymer Chemistry as my PhD is in Polymer Science but general first year Chemistry is what I usually tutor students in.

Q: What types of resources or technology do you use to support your Chemistry lessons?

I have a premium zoom account so lessons can be as long as you require and a tablet which makes interacting on the Zoom whiteboard feature effortless. I also have notes and practice tests and quizzes which helps students greatly. I am also available via email for quick questions where I can answer with a worked out example.

Q: How do you approach teaching Chemistry concepts to students who may struggle with Chemistry?

I approach tricky chemistry concepts by breaking it down into smaller parts and connect what the student already knows to the smaller parts of the tricky concept and build up the understanding from there. My biggest tip is practice and as a tutor we will go through many examples together and you'll have the opportunity to get some extra practice questions.

Q: Do you have experience with laboratory experiments, and how do you incorporate these into your Chemistry lessons?

As a practical demonstrator, I do have experience with laboratory experience and incorporate into lessons with everyday life examples or with practical videos.

Q: What is your approach to teaching organic chemistry, and how do you make the subject engaging and accessible for students?

Teaching Organic chemistry requires patience and a lot of visuals. I make the subjecting engaging by lots of visuals and making summaries together so that they don't just copy paste but actually connect things and put information in a way that makes sense to them and helps them understand. Once we've made summaries, the student has access to it as it's theirs.

Q: How do you help students prepare for chemistry competitions, college applications, or other academic opportunities in chemistry?

Practice tests/quizzes and going through how to approach questions and understanding what the question is asking.
