As an English tutor based in Hong Kong, I bring an academic foundation rooted in research, cultural scholarship, and global education, alongside years of professional public speaking and writing experience. My teaching philosophy centers on empowering learners to communicate with confidence, precision, and cultural awareness—skills that extend far beyond the classroom.
I currently serve as a Research Assistant at the Faculty of Law, The University of Hong Kong, where I contribute to academic projects and English scholarly publications. This work nurtures my deep understanding of academic writing, rhetoric, and the art of structured reasoning—essential tools I incorporate when teaching students how to express complex ideas effectively. Beyond the research setting, I co-authored an academic book on South Asian Heritage in Hong Kong, an experience that sharpened both my editorial discipline and my appreciation for cross-cultural narratives. My approach to English education reflects this dual focus on intellectual rigor and inclusive understanding—helping students view language not just as grammar and vocabulary, but as a craft of thought and identity.
Academically, I achieved Level 5* in English Studies in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) and later received a full scholarship for an exchange program at Cardiff University, United Kingdom. I believe strong English instruction should likewise adapt to a student's linguistic background, learning goals, and confidence level—fostering a space where mistakes become milestones toward mastery.
In addition to my academic work, I am an experienced English public-speaking professional. Over the past several years, I have emceed and served as a discussion panelist in over a dozen international events for corporate clients across Hong Kong, ranging from educational conferences to social entrepreneurship summits. These experiences strengthened my ability to coach learners in presentation, pronunciation, and persuasive communication—especially those seeking to refine workplace English or public-speaking fluency. My classes often integrate performance-based elements such as debates, storytelling, or simulated interviews, which allow learners to apply their language skills dynamically and memorably.
What sets me apart as a tutor is the combination of academic precision and real-world communication training. Whether my student is preparing for a significant exam, drafting a university application, mastering academic essay writing, or developing confident spoken English for professional settings, I tailor each lesson to align with individual goals. Students describe my sessions as disciplined yet encouraging—structured with clear outcomes, but flexible enough to explore new expressions and ideas. I provide personalized feedback, guiding learners not only on what to improve but also how to grow their linguistic intuition and voice.
English, to me, is more than a subject—it’s a bridge between people, perspectives, and possibilities. My background in research, authorship, and international engagement enables me to help students discover that bridge for themselves: learning to articulate who they are and what they aspire to achieve in the most authentic and effective way possible.
Whether you’re a secondary school student aiming for top results, a university learner refining academic writing, or a professional seeking fluent, confident speech, I would be delighted to work with you. Together, we’ll turn English into a tool not just for success, but for self-expression, confidence, and lifelong learning.
I am accessible wherever I need to be, however, I prioritize classes on the Kowloon and Island line. Read less

My teaching methodology blends academic precision with interactive learning. I draw from my research experience at HKU’s Faculty of Law to teach structured writing and critical thinking, while my background in public speaking helps students communicate confidently. Lessons are tailored to each learner’s goals, combining discussion, applied writing, and feedback to build authentic fluency and self-expression. I focus on active learning rather than passive, so be prepared for many worksheets! Read less
