I hold a PhD in Renaissance English from the University of Miami, an MA in English from Rutgers University, and a BA in English and Women's Studies from Pace University. I am currently an adjunct professor, teaching courses in college composition and a wide range of classes in literature including Renaissance literature, women's writing, world literature, introduction to literary studies, British and American literature, and more! One of my core principles as an instructor is public literacy: tutoring allows me, one-on-one, to tailor instruction to not only the student's current educational needs but also to the public arena(s) to which they want to contribute. Focusing on public literacy allows me to prepare students of all ages for their roles as academic contributors in high school and college as well as their professional roles later on. I believe that every student can, with some help, harness the power inherent in literacy of all kinds -- which increasingly includes digital literacy -- to achieve their goals and give back to their communities and families. As a college professor, I have a unique perspective to help younger students prepare for college or other educational endeavors, but also to help college students to prepare for graduate school and their careers. I hope I can help you improve your writing for academic or professional purposes, to understand literature on a deeper level, and to develop critical thinking skills to last a lifetime!

Hello out there! Who are you? How are you? I want to help. I have been teaching people from all walks of life for many years. I am want to know a little about who you are first, then work on figuring out how best to find a way for YOU to feel strong and capable, to feel right and then be successful for who you are, whether it is a subject that baffles or bores you (I get it, but I still love learning and will help you figure it out) or if there is something you are having problems navigating in your world and need some help figuringit out, there is nothign I am afraid to hear about or take on. I have 30 years experience doing this, and still work with people every day.

In the 10 years I've been Tutoring English I've been able to use my educational background in English Literature and Psychology for the enrichment of my students in central New Jersey and metro Philadelphia. I consider it an on-going goal to help my students achieve the ability to communicate in a clear concise way. After all, the way you write is the way you think. I agree with Issac Asimov who once implied that the best writers are always reading. Listening, reading, the use of vocabulary and sentence structure and, most of all, imagination are part of the wondrous chain of Learning. I want to encourage your voice. The ability to find your special "take" on a subject and then have the confidence to put it on display. Like so many things in life, confidence can help one experience their world to the fullest. My students have taken subjects that range from Revenge: Pre and Post-Hamlet to Into the Wild and come up with mature and insightful essays. Whether it's the basics in grade school or the research papers in college, language is necessary to comprehend every facet of life. Small things like understanding the different between "there," "their," and "they're" or the bigger things like why it's important to cite properly in a research are equally important as we age into adulthood. That is why I love teaching English. Currently, I reside in Southern California and I am looking into teaching as a career. Hello, I'm Ananda and I'm a rising junior studying Environment at McGill University. I also hold an A.A. in Liberal Arts from Bard College. I am mainly an English tutor, and I have a year and a half of experience doing so for college credit. I scored a 34/35 on each of the Math, English, and Science sections of the ACT, and a 35/36 on the Reading section.
