Experienced and passionate English language teacher in Happy Valley!
Passionate English teacher with 22 years' experience in local and international schools in Hong Kong. My aim is to prepare children to soar with confidence and discover their potential. I teach various classes, such as phonics, reading comprehension, creative writing, grammar, and assessment preparation for local and international schools, including UK 7+ and 11+. I have successfully prepared my past students for their 7+ and 11+ examinations. Develop and execute creative, constructive lesson plans per the EYFS and the British National curriculum. Deliver tailored, dynamic, effective, and engaging lessons. Geography, history, literature, and global citizenship are intertwined in the English lessons, according to the student's level, to expand their general knowledge and awareness of the world around them. Liaise with the school teacher (if necessary with parents' permission) to assist and build up the child's foundation of English in alignment with the school's curriculum. Assessment/Quiz preparations for children in local and international schools. Engage and expand children's reading and writing repertoire with my passion for language and varied resources tailored to each child's level, guiding learners towards learning goals. Communicate openly with parents regarding ongoing observations and evaluate and report their child's progress with recommendations as needed. Listen to the child to discern the emotions behind certain behaviours and engage in dialogue to reassure the child that her/his concerns and thoughts are valuable. Use discernment to share what is relevant to parents' knowledge and respect the child's need for privacy and confidentiality. Explore options, develop strategies and increase self-awareness of issues that the child and I can work through to build confidence and independence, which will help them to overcome any academic 'barriers'. After each lesson, written reports will be sent to parents to ensure we work together as a team with the child's best interest at heart. Sabbath rest: Sat 12 pm-Mon 12 pm. Ignacio Estrada once said, 'If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.' Location: In person (preferably HK island) or via Zoom. I have tutored children from local schools, including Braemar Hill Nursery, Sheng Kung Hui, St. Catherine's, CCKG, St. Paul's Co-Ed, Diocesan Boys' School, DGS, St. Stephen's, Maryknoll and Raymondi College. Dee, the Native British Language Teacher
Hello! My name is Dione, but most people who know me call me Dee. I am currently located in Southern Thailand, in Phuket I have been working in the field of education for ten years, and I would like to think that I have an energetic teaching style. Within this ten-year period, I have worked with a varied age range of students/learners, utilizing the majority of modern teaching styles. I am a TEFL Teacher and an English Writing skills tutor, so I am also happy to help those who study any humanities subjects for assignments. I believe in flexible teaching, which means that the tone for learning would be relatively relaxed. This does not mean that I want you sleeping in class, but I do want you to feel at ease to ask any questions and speak freely within the level of English you understand. So, if you think of something you would like to try, let me know. I have worked in the UK, teaching English to students with various disabilities and learning disabilities, as I specialize in SEN Education. For the last three years, I have focused more on Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I believe in making lessons fun, and I would almost say I require some form of spoken English at any level. I wish for you to communicate with me in any way you can. So, to best be able to do that, you need to tell me what you can say, and we can build from there together. There will be references to E-books, which will be accessible through Google Classrooms, and work will be assigned from it for further support, both in FREE and paid lessons. I am a travelling teacher, so I will inform students and learners at least one month in advance of my movements, in order to ease any transitions or breaks in studying. In-person lessons are possible, but I would preferably advise sticking to online lessons for consistency due to the fact that I could be travelling to another city near or far from you.

I am an experienced ESL teacher.
Hello! My name is Judith Serraon, and I am an experienced ESL teacher with 8 years of teaching practice. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with both young learners and adult students, guiding them on their journey to master the English language. Teaching English is more than just my profession—it is my passion and calling. I believe that every student has the potential to succeed in learning English when given encouragement, the right strategies, and a positive environment that builds confidence. My teaching philosophy is simple yet powerful: learning English should be meaningful, practical, and enjoyable. Over the years, I have witnessed that students learn best when they are actively engaged and feel comfortable expressing themselves. That is why I design my lessons to be interactive, creative, and student-centered. I use a variety of approaches such as role plays, group discussions, games, multimedia activities, and real-life scenarios to make learning both effective and fun. Whether I am teaching children their first English words or helping adults prepare for work, travel, or further education, I always strive to make my lessons relevant and tailored to their goals. Working with young learners has given me the opportunity to explore creative methods that spark curiosity and excitement. I often use stories, songs, visual aids, and games to help children build vocabulary and confidence. I also encourage them to learn through play, which makes the classroom lively and less intimidating. My goal with young learners is not only to teach them English but also to inspire a genuine love for learning that will grow with them over time. Teaching adults, on the other hand, requires a different approach. Adults often come with specific goals—whether it is to improve their communication skills for work, prepare for an exam, or simply gain confidence in daily conversations. With my adult students, I focus on practicality, cultural awareness, and fluency. I provide opportunities for them to practice real-world communication, from business interactions to casual dialogues, and I encourage them to use English with confidence outside the classroom. Seeing their growth and how English helps them achieve their personal or professional goals is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. I am also deeply motivated by the belief that teaching English is not just about language, but also about building bridges across cultures. Through English, students can connect with people from around the world, access new opportunities, and expand their perspectives. I integrate cultural elements into my lessons, encouraging open-mindedness and respect for diversity. This helps students not only improve their language skills but also gain confidence in global communication. One of my strengths as a teacher is adaptability. Over the past eight years, I have taught students of different ages, proficiency levels, and learning styles. I am able to adjust my teaching strategies to meet their needs, ensuring that each student feels supported and challenged. I also make use of technology in my classes—whether through online platforms, interactive exercises, or multimedia resources—to make learning more dynamic and to provide additional practice. Patience, creativity, and dedication are qualities that I bring to every class. I understand that learning a new language can sometimes be overwhelming, so I make sure to create a safe environment where students are not afraid to make mistakes. I constantly remind them that mistakes are part of the learning process and stepping stones to progress. My role is not only to teach grammar and vocabulary but also to inspire confidence and a growth mindset. In conclusion, I am proud to be an ESL teacher who has dedicated 8 years to helping both young learners and adults succeed in English. My passion for teaching, combined with my adaptability, creativity, and commitment to student success.
