Hi, I’m an American IDP IELTS expert and university lecturer with 13 years of teaching experience in Vietnam, including 6 years working directly with IDP as an IELTS Expert. I specialize in online IELTS coaching that shows students how the test is actually marked, rather than relying on guesswork or memorized answers. I teach all four skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. In addition, I also focus on making band descriptors and examiner expectations clear and practical. I can guide my students in acquiring the necessary English skills for job interviews, workplace promotions, English exams, university entrance requirements, visa applications, conducting business in English, as well as general conversational English for work, study, and leisure. As a teacher, I am outgoing and jovial, with a laid-back attitude. However, I do have four basic rules: 1. Always strive to communicate in English during lessons. 2. Do not be afraid to make mistakes. 3. Always take notes. 4. Most importantly, have fun while learning with me. I will provide a FREE 30-minute consultation lesson in order for me to test your English proficiency and for you to ask questions. At the end of this session, I will create a custom-made lesson plan. All my lesson plans follow the CEFR guidelines, and I use official CEFR-recognized exercise books both on-site and online.

I am from the UK, which is where I got my Degree in English language and literature from, and I’ve been working as an English and Math teacher here in Singapore for 10 years. Before completing my Degree course, I was an Engineer for 2 years. I have worked with all different ages across many different nationalities. By working in both tuition centers and international schools, I have learned many different ways of teaching, and have used them to create interesting, fun and engaging lessons, for kids and adults. I helped a Japanese man with his English for 3 years, as his company required him to obtain a certain level in his TOEIC test. If he failed, his whole family had to be relocated back to Japan. Not only did he pass, but he was promoted and was offered a new role in America. Some advice when learning English, don’t be too hard on yourself. You may set yourself goals which are way beyond your reach, for now. Instead, give yourself little goals to reach, such as: learning the lyrics to your favourite songs, or understand what’s being said in a movie you like. Learning a language is like a journey, take it and be amazed on what you discover.
