I have HSK 5 certificate Classes: English writing, reading, CK-12, social sciences, economics, politics, sciences ( biology and chemistry), Spanish and French ( beginners to advanced learners), SAT, IELTS, TOEFL, Mandarin for beginners. My approaches I put emphasis on students’ interests and applying useful skills to further their knowledge. I also help with building skills in research papers and writing improvement. I spent over 10 years specialising in this career.

I have been teaching English as a second language since moving to Asia in 2009. I am a qualified English language teacher and have previously worked in kindergartens and primary schools. Currently, I am a secondary school teacher, primarily teaching junior forms but have also taught senior form students preparing for HKDSE and IGCSEs. I am a British teacher of English language and literature, and I have been working in Hong Kong since 2001. Before that, I taught English in Japan for over 10 years. From 2001 until 2023, I was a senior tutor at AMG Ltd. in Language and Literature for students aged 8-18. At AMG, I taught UKISET, IDAT, ISEB 11+ and 13+, SSAT, (I)GCSE, HKDSE, IB, SAT, NAPLAN, IELTS, LSAT, and many other Australian and Canadian curricula. I successfully prepared students to enter top British private schools, including scholarships for Benenden, Eton, Harrow, Winchester, and Wycombe Abbey, as well as schools and universities in the UK, US, Canada, and Australia. Many of my former students are now successful young professionals in business, law, medicine, and many other fields. In my first lessons, I learn what the student enjoys reading and their level of comprehension so I can supply interesting, relevant lessons in which they will learn more vocabulary and how to analyze a text. I also help students develop their creative writing through structured prompts and clear models. For older students, I focus on essay techniques and literary analysis, including how to analyze language and structure in texts. For those students preparing for IELTS, we cover all areas of the examination by looking at past papers and best practices. I also offer interview practice for Hong Kong international schools and schools in the UK and elsewhere. I have extensive experience in preparing students for online as well as face-to-face interviews; my focus is on building up learners’ self-confidence and interpersonal skills so they can present their best selves to any interviewer. Classes are conducted one-on-one in a comfortable office. There is also a great reception area for students to wait in before class if they need a place to do homework.
