Questions for You

Q: What styles of music can you teach on the guitar?

Blues, Rock, Metal, Pop, Classical and Jazz

Q: How long is each lesson and how often do you recommend lessons?

Options for 30 minute or 1 hour per lesson. (case to case basis)

Q: Do you teach guitar theory and how do you incorporate it into your lessons?

Yes, I teach Music Theory. My session starts with a very brief check on dexterity by allowing the student to demonstrate exercises or scales. Then Music Theory discussion, depending on the topic (C Major Scale, Chord Construction, Improvisation Approach, etc.). Last would be application of the theory. As much as possible, this would be learning through song. eg. Jazz Improvisation using Fly Me To The Moon as a platform to study improvement.

Q: What equipment or tools are required for guitar lessons?

It would depend on the topic or genre. For classical guitar lessons, a classical guitar, foot stool, metronome (analog or digital), music stand. For rock / metal lead guitar, electric guitar, cables, gadgets, amp, metronome (analog or digital), music stand. If online class, a laptop or tablet and earphones/headphones is required.

Q: Can you teach guitar to children and what is your approach for working with younger students?

Preferably 10 years old and up. A junior guitar with nylon strings if possible or a lighter style electric guitar. My approach is providing exercises to develop strenght and dexterity for fingers then teach simple and familiar songs such as twinkle, twinkle little star, happy birthday, ode to joy.

Q: Can you teach students who have no prior musical experience?

Yes

Q: Can you recommend guitar brands or models for students who want to buy a guitar?

Yes. I can recommend brands and trusted shops where they could purchase instruments and equipment.

Q: Do you have any performance experience and can you help students prepare for performances?

Yes. I have been performing since the early 90s. And yes, I can help students with this aspect of being a musician.

Q: Do you teach different types of guitars, such as acoustic, electric, or bass guitar?

Yes
