Hello! I'm Kristy, a native English speaker with extensive experience in professional communication and academic writing. I am currently pursuing my Master of Arts in Art History. I was also selected as the only Master's student to work at the University Writing Centre, where I work 1:1 with English as a Second Language (ESL) students to write academic papers. My work here involves: - Providing constructive, targeted feedback to help students address concerns like flow, structure, and argument development - Assisting students in translating their ideas and research into effective academic English - Guiding students on how to interpret and incorporate instructor feedback strategically My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill University in Canada. Coming from a translation background, I have worked in multinational companies for more than 10 years. I am an educator, designer, and editor based in Chiang Mai. With a background in architecture and fine arts, I received a Bachelor of Architecture from Rice University, pursued studies in Art History, Theory and Criticism at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, earned a Post-Professional Certificate in Alternative Design at Archeworks, followed by a Master in Architecture from the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University. I am the former Editor-in-Chief of Perspective magazine in Hong Kong and have held various academic positions, including Visiting Fellow at City University Hong Kong, Assistant Professor at Chu Hai College of Higher Education Hong Kong, Visiting Assistant Professor at Hong Kong University, and University of Saint Joseph, Macau. I also served as the Director of the DESIS (Design for Social Innovation and Sustainability) Lab at the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI). After a decade teaching in Hong Kong and China, I relocated to Thailand, where I currently hold the position of Visiting Lecturer in the Faculty of Architecture at Chiang Mai University. My current research centers on Critical Graphic Design, Media and Publications, Landscape Urbanism and Urban Development in Northern Thailand, as well as Urban Mobility and Participatory Design Strategies for the city of Chiang Mai. Currently, I spend most days managing a small independent studio in Chang Moi, dealing with a lovely but troublesome ginger cat, and working on new initiatives and workshops for the region.
