Hey there! My name is Kayla Graham and I am from Cleveland, Ohio, USA. I recently moved to Hamburg in the beginning of 2019 and have found myself as an English teacher! I love watching my students knowledge and confidence grow with every lesson. I have been working with children, teens, and adults. In America, I studied Environmental Science(specifically Sustainable Agriculture). I also was an art teacher in for Kindergarten to 6th graders, and did weekend art classes with adults! I love working with young children and incorporating art and fun games into my lessons. With teens, I love helping their vocabulary grow and helping them at the harder topics they may struggle with in school. As for adults, I really enjoy helping conversation flow and working with pronunciation and overall confidence. My English classes are a judgement free zone. Learning a language does not need to be uncomfortable and stressful, instead, it should be something exciting and new! Living in Germany it has been very hard not speaking fluent German and I am still at a beginner level, but I think that has helped me grow as a teacher. It has forced me to try new things and I can really relate to my students. I have taught English for almost 9 years and I am trained with the communicative teaching method, a method that I am eager and excited to share and that will help engage every student to participate in practical, interactive and student-centered activities. I designed my lessons creatively so the students can work in pairs and in groups as well as moving around the classroom and to carefully integrate these lessons to speaking, grammar, listening, reading and writing and to technology, a very stimulating tool for learning.
