Hi! My name is Aimee, and I'm a highly qualified EDB NET scheme teacher currently teaching P1-6 students at a primary school on Hong Kong Island. As someone who graduated in London with a First-Class Honours degree in Creative Writing, I have a passionate interest in literature and the English language and take great pleasure in teaching it. In addition to my BA, I also obtained an MA in the same subject. Furthermore, I hold a Cambridge English teaching certificate and have over 10 years of experience teaching in both the U.K and Hong Kong. As a result, I have experience with both the local and British curriculum and have taught both international and local students. My current work as a primary school teacher involves implementing the EDB curriculum for a diverse range of abilities through the teaching of phonics, oral lessons, shared reading, and guided reading. I like to get to know my students and find out what their needs are. Don't be surprised if I do a quick, informal assessment on you. This will save your time and my time, while also ensuring you're learning and enjoying the sessions with me. In my lessons, we will engage in activities, games, watch videos, or listen to music to expose you to as much English as possible, just like in the real world. I can work with students online or in face-to-face settings. I use the PPP structure to prepare most of my lessons, which makes learning English easier. Examples are presented to the students first, then a practice session, and finally a production session where students work in groups, pairs, or independently to use English in integrated skills. Using the PPP structure maximizes the students' use of all necessary skills: speaking, listening, writing, reading, critical thinking, teamwork, autonomy, and vocabulary. As a graduate student in TESOL, I have developed my own assessments, tests, exams, and rubrics to supplement my students' learning based on what research has shown to be most effective.
