I was born in Jersey City, grew up in Bergen County, and moved to Philadelphia where I attended the University of Pennsylvania (earning a B.A. in Philosophy) and Temple University, where I received an M.F.A. in Screenwriting. Subsequently, I moved to New York City where I lived for 16 years and earned my Ph.D. in American Studies from NYU.
