Hello, My name is Priscilla. I am from Australia and am working as an Engineer in Eindhoven. I have always had a passion to teach and see students improve and grow to love the subjects I teach. I have 6 years of experience teaching Maths, Physics and Engineering. I have experience teaching younger kids (I was a teacher at Kumon), high school students and university students (I was an engineering tutor at my university for first, second and third year mechanical engineering students). I am located in Eindhoven but am willing to travel to your house for an extra fee. Online classes can also be arranged. In order to tailor each lesson to each students' needs, I require the topics and struggles to be communicated in advance.

My experience has been that one-to-one personal tuition has a unique value to students because of the ability to resolve the student's personal barriers to learning in a way that lays the foundations for a deep and long-lasting understanding of the subject.

My students have always initially found it tough to excel in H2 Mathematics and most of the difficulties occur because teachers in school are unable to break the topics down into simple terms, as well as providing a list of question types for students to understand. Having 3 years of experience in teaching H2 Mathematics, I have come up with the solution to this problem and will apply a “bottom-up” rather than a “top-down” approach in our three-phased approach in our tuition pedagogy that is reflected in our lesson plan. In our lessons, we will also learn to substitute complicated terminologies into more layman terms so that students will have learning much more relatable and easier to remember.

I love teaching and learning Mathematics and Physics conceptually. I connect the dots by relating concepts in the textbook to real-life scenarios and use anecdotes and humor to solidify understanding. This is how I learned to study effectively in high school and students came to me for help (which was really fun!) I reside in Northcliff and am a first-year Computer Science student at the University of the Witwatersrand. I am surrounded by Maths all day, every day, and I am majoring in Physics.

I enjoy participating in extra-circular activities that involve mathematics or sports. In year 8 I entered the UK Maths challenge and achieved a silver certificate – a mere 5 points away from gold. I have participated in badminton tournaments against other schools and attended after school basketball and badminton clubs. I also take part in sports out of school; having attended boxing and badminton. Other sports I enjoy are basketball and cycling, which I try to do in my free time.
