Start teaching a concept with an example before meticulously going through the theory. The theory is very important. Sometimes you need just remember stuff in math. However, it is a lot easier to remember something if you know how it works. This happens because if you know how to reverse engineer something, you can kind of 'draw it out of thin air'. Understanding is key.
This would be my first time tutoring online. However, I have conducted 'mock tutoring' sessions with myself to ensure I can deliver the best product to my students. I would prefer to talk over whatsapp due peoples inclination to respond speedily thereon.

Yes, I prepare my own set of practice questions we will go through in the lesson. They can attempt the questions beforehand or get a copy of the set we solve in the lesson.
Ask them lots of questions. Ask them to solve problems during the lesson and provide help and feedback. I will provide them with practice questions they must attempt before the next class.
Speak with them! I know from experience that all learners are not the same. Some learn slower than others. As long as a learner tries, I am more than happy to go over a topic as many times as it takes for them to get it! And test them, often times learners will say that they understand but really they just want to move on and 'not feel stupid'. I know this feeling, we will deal with it together.
No I don't. But like I said above, all learners are different. If it takes one student 10x longer to learn something than others, I have no problem in helping them develop the resilience to master it.
