My teaching methodology is student-centered, flexible, and focused on building deep understanding. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and expressing their thoughts. I begin by assessing each student’s current level and learning style, then tailor my explanations and examples to suit their needs. I break down complex topics into clear, manageable steps to keep sessions engaging. I also encourage active participation through guided problem-solving and regular feedback to help students gain confidence and independence in their learning.
While I haven't formally worked with professional online teaching platforms yet, I do have solid experience in both in-person and virtual teaching. I worked as an intern teacher at a school for one year, where I gained hands-on experience in lesson planning, classroom management, and adapting my teaching to different learning styles. In addition, I have provided online tutoring to several of my relatives, including my younger brother, which helped me develop effective strategies for explaining concepts clearly and keeping students engaged in a virtual setting. These experiences have equipped me with the skills and adaptability needed for successful online tutoring. My preferred method of communication with students is a combination of video calls for interactive sessions and messaging for quick questions or feedback between lessons.
I'm particularly skilled in teaching a wide range of mathematics topics, including all high school-level math, SAT math preparation, and first- and second-year university mathematics courses such as calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, and basic probability. I focus on helping students develop strong foundational understanding as well as problem-solving skills that can be applied across topics. To stay current with changes in the curriculum, I regularly review updated course materials, syllabi from various educational institutions, and standardized test requirements.
I believe clear and consistent communication with parents is essential for supporting a student’s learning. I provide regular updates on their child's progress, highlighting both strengths and areas that need improvement. This can be done through messages, emails, or short online meetings, depending on the parents' preference. If I notice any challenges the student is facing—such as gaps in foundational knowledge, difficulties with specific topics, or lack of confidence—I make sure to share these observations along with practical suggestions for how we can address them together. My goal is to keep parents informed and involved in a constructive and collaborative way.
Yes, I regularly provide additional resources to reinforce what we cover during lessons. I usually assign homework or targeted practice exercises to help students review and apply the concepts independently.
My approach to homework assignments is to use them as a tool for reinforcing understanding rather than just extra work. I assign exercises that directly reflect the concepts we've covered in class, starting with basic problems and gradually moving toward more challenging ones. During our sessions, I make sure students grasp the underlying ideas by guiding them through examples and encouraging them to explain their reasoning. If a student struggles with a homework question, I revisit the concept from a different angle, using simpler language or alternative methods until it clicks.
To ensure my teaching approach aligns with the student’s learning style, I begin by observing how they respond to different types of explanations—whether they prefer visual aids, step-by-step logic, real-life examples, or hands-on problem-solving. I also ask questions to understand their preferences and past learning experiences. Based on this, I adapt my methods—for example, using diagrams for visual learners, breaking down complex ideas into smaller steps for analytical learners, or incorporating interactive discussions for those who learn best through dialogue. I remain flexible and open to feedback throughout our sessions, always aiming to create a personalized learning experience that helps the student stay engaged and succeed.
