Physics tutor - Canadian civil engineering graduate.
My name is Frank (Lifu), I am 23 years old. I immigrated to Canada when I was just 10 years old. I completed my bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at McMaster University with a 3.7/4.0 GPA. I recently took a full-time position with a top structural engineering consulting firm in Hong Kong. I am very passionate in inspiring the young generation and enjoy teaching others. Thus, I consider this to be a hobby and not a job. Since moving to Canada, I mainly speak English but can also speak Mandarin. I am passionate in subjects like Math, Physics and English. Since I studied abroad starting in elementary and all the way through university, I can provide a lot of insight on the schooling experience in Canada. Although I do not have any formal training on teaching, I have had plenty of practice helping my classmates with homework assignments and test preparation. Understanding I lack in tutoring experience, I am willing to provide the first lesson at a discounted rate to gauge my level of effectiveness.
With a busy work schedule throughout the week, I can only help on the weekends. Preferably less than 3 hours a week. I am located in Causeway Bay; I am able to conduct online tutoring as well as home tutoring at the student’s place. However, I prefer teaching in person, as I believe it is more effective. I look forward to hearing from you and setting up our first meet and greet.
Hi! I’m a physics enthusiast currently completing the final semester of my MSc in Theoretical Physics at Utrecht University. My research focuses on galaxy-galaxy gravitational lensing in collaboration with the DESC and LSST-Rubin teams, and I’m preparing to continue to a PhD in astrophysics, where I’ll also take on teaching assistant duties. Tutoring is something I already enjoy — it lets me share my enthusiasm for maths and physics while further developing my teaching skills. When I’m not studying the universe, I love music, hiking, and discovering new cafés. I’d be happy to support you in maths or physics up to high school (and a little beyond) in either French or English.
I am a tutor with over 9 years experience and with a proven track record of students achieving way above what they may have been predicted. I have worked with all ages, from Primary to A-level. My specialty is Maths and Sciences. I teach Maths up to A-level and Sciences up to GCSE, I also have a BTEC Award in education and training, and therefore am qualified to teach over 16s. I have experience tutoring online as well as in person, one on one as well as small groups.
During my sessions I aim to try and make the content more relatable to the learner and often come up with innovative ideas to help explain and make concepts easier for the student to remember. To ensure my student has fully understood concepts, I make them practice example questions until they can answer the question perfectly without any help from myself.
I also ensure that all my students improve their exam technique and their revision technique by assessing their learning styles and advising them how to revise effectively, giving them tips and tricks to learn concepts and how to tackle exam questions. I teach them how to answer exam questions, what to include in the question, and how to approach the exam. I also try to help my students overcome any anxiety they may feel before the exam and give them coping strategies to help with the nerves during exam time.
I have found during my time as a tutor, the main issue is confidence, once the student's confidence increases, their attitude toward the subject improves, their quality of work improves and as a result they achieve above and beyond what they and their teachers thought they were capable of.
I currently tutor the following subjects:
A-Level Maths
iGCSE/GCSE/KS3 Maths
iGCSE/GCSE/KS3 Physics
A-Level Physics
iGCSE/GCSE/KS3 Chemistry
iGCSE/GCSE/KS3 Biology
