あなたへの質問

Q: What teaching methods do you use to help students learn Math concepts and solve problems?

I love to use Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Concrete-Representational-Abstract (CRA) Approach with smaller children, Collaborative Learning (Group Work) with older children, Questioning and LOTS of Pattern Recognition, and fair enough usage of Technology and Interactive Tools.

Q: Do you have experience with online teaching platforms or virtual tutoring, and what is your preferred method of communication with students?

Yes, I have experience with virtual tutoring, especially during covid. My preferred method of communication is whatever is easiest and most convenient for parent and student.

Q: What Math topics or concepts are you particularly skilled in teaching, and how do you keep up to date with changes in the curriculum?

I'm particularly skilled at K-7 mathematics, and I am certified as a cognitive skills trainer. One way I keep up with changes in curriculum is by writing online courses for parents. Creating an online course requires research and synthesis.

Q: How do you communicate with parents about their child's progress and any challenges they may be facing in learning Math?

I communicate either by email or by text. I am always looking for more positive things to share with parents versus concerns. I use growth mindset principles when communicating challenged students face in learning math.

Q: Do you provide any additional resources or materials to supplement your lessons, such as practice exercises or online tutorials?

Yes, I have an free online course for parents, which parents can access if they needed. I am also willing to provide additional resources persnalized to each student.

Q: What is your approach to homework assignments, and how do you ensure students understand the concepts covered in class?

I am not a big fan of assigning homework, though at the same time, I'm not against the practice of any skill for the purpose of improvement. Homework can also be a good time to catch up on an in-class assignment. However, I rely on class time for learning, and use a spiral-review method for reviewing previously taught information for mastery of content.

Q: What steps do you take to ensure that your teaching approach is compatible with the student's learning style?

I use empathy and am always assessing. For example, I am always looking for feedback. If something I'm trying does not engage a student, or frustrates them, I look for clues to tell me so, and I will adapt my methods.

Q: Do you have experience working with students with learning disabilities or special needs, and how do you adapt your teaching methods to accommodate their needs?

No, I don't have much experience. Just with ADHD.
