Hi! I'm Jerry Olsen. I'm a highly experienced English and Language Arts teacher from Salt Lake City. I love teaching. It's my passion. I've been working as a substitute teacher for the Jordan School District for 3 years now, and I get a lot of joy from teaching students of all ages.

I am an experienced tutor who improves assignments and essay writing skills at a high school and university level. For high school students, I can help with a variety of subjects, including English, Philosophy, Media Studies, and Sociology/Anthropology/Psychology. I’m a mother of a 13 yr old , she’s in the 7th grade and I believe the fundamentals of education is important as long as the tutor/teacher is understanding to diverse situations both learning and how students live.

I have worked in education for over 17 years. Throughout my career, I have written and taught curriculum that connects students to academic subjects and topics through methods that are engaging and relatable. I am experienced in private tutoring from elementary through high school and college. I work with varying abilities, such as gifted and talented, special education, emotionally troubled, homebound, and autistic populations. I have online and in person experience tutoring in English Language Arts-reading, writing, comprehension, fiction and non -fiction study from kindergarten through college, SAT/ACT verbal and written, as well as American and world history. I provide instruction in College Humanities subjects.

Empowering students to steer destiny in the direction of their choice is a challenge as an educator. Since teaching is an art, I consider my instructional philosophy to be "versatility in motion" because learning styles and progress vary accordingly.
