As a child, I grew up on a French farm in the countryside, my mind focused on nature and how it works. I was fascinated by lambings, spiderwebs, and blowing plants. I focused my studies in biology with final exams in agronomy, sustainable development, and ecology. I then followed preparatory courses for entrance exams to institutes of higher education with a Biology elective. I passed a competitive exam to get into an engineering school in agronomy. I completed both theory and practical lessons such as insects, pig heart, and plant dissection, microscopic examination, soil analysis, and diet making for animals. I studied a wide range of subjects including plants, agriculture, agroindustry, ecology, and sustainable development. I participated in a double degree program studying in both France and Italy, and completed my 6-month Master training period in a research center in Ireland. I focused on animal science, passionate about topics such as animal health, genetics, nutrition, neuromuscular systems, and digestion. In parallel to my studies, I have always had a vocation for teaching and supervising. I have held a French Children's Activity Leader certificate since 2018. I have served as a tutor and babysitter for children from different nationalities and am currently working in a school, accustomed to working with kids aged 6 to 18. I have also participated in tandem language exchanges with adults. I am fluent in French, English, and Italian, so I can teach in Italian and French if desired. I am living in Kai Tak in a flat with a spacious shared working room, but I can also meet you at your home as long as it is easily accessible by public transport. I am mainly available on Mondays and Tuesdays. I can also conduct online lessons with people from other countries, as I am accustomed to dealing with jet lag since Hong Kong is my fourth country of residence. Hello! I am an experienced Head of Department and Online Tutor based in the UK, specializing in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at GCSE, and Biology and Physics at A-level. I have a wealth of teaching and exam resources and a solid track record of improving student results. I also tutor General Science and Mathematics at KS3. After completing A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics (all grade A), I began my B.Sc in Biology at the Queen’s University of Belfast, graduating with First-Class Honors. Prior to teaching, I worked in food disease research and then the food retail sector, in both product quality and safety as well as procurement. After some years, I changed career into teaching, completing my PGCE in Physics at King’s College London. In my first teaching post, in a large mixed secondary school outside London, I was immediately given responsibility to develop new schemes of work for Physics at both GCSE and A-level for the new exam syllabi. Despite my lack of teaching experience at the time, my passion for Physics, inspiring student learning, use of real-life application, and focus on exam technique showed I was the right person for the job. My dedication to raising the profile and attainment of Physics, not only in my own lessons but in the wider department, resulted in my official promotion to Head of Physics. In this capacity, I continued to drive progress throughout the department through the sharing of best practices with non-specialist teachers and the department as a whole. In addition to improving academic progress each year, I developed the school’s STEM opportunities through extracurricular Crest awards and organized a residential trip to CERN in Geneva, where students had the opportunity to see one of the particle accelerators up close. My success in inspiring students and colleagues alike and continued improvement in student academic progress saw me promoted to Head of Science the following year.
