I've been a classroom teacher for 25 years and have designed highly successful courses in French, Spanish, and other languages, ESL, mathematics, teaching methodologies, and research methods (for university and graduate-level students). My style as a teacher is about uncovering how each student learns and working with them to develop tricks, strategies, and routines that support them in being successful at school in a way that is uniquely theirs. I teach students how to communicate well in a new language and be skilled at math, but the way we do that together is not so much about me telling them to do it this way. It's more about them telling me what they need so that we can figure out an effective way to approach learning. Studying in this way will get you good grades, but it will also lead to something you'll remember for the rest of your life – how to learn anything you want well. I work primarily in southern Vermont but I also travel to southwestern New Hampshire and western Massachusetts.
