I teach a range of popular accounting software tools that are commonly used in both academic and professional settings. I am most comfortable with: Pastel Accounting (Sage 50cloud) – including Pastel Partner, which is widely used in South African curricula QuickBooks – both the desktop and online versions, great for small business accounting Xero Accounting – especially useful for students or entrepreneurs interested in cloud-based platforms Microsoft Excel – essential for building custom accounting templates, budgets, and financial models I also support students using accounting systems as part of their coursework or workplace training. I tailor my teaching to the version the student is using, ensuring they’re confident with navigation, capturing transactions, generating reports, and reconciling accounts.
I teach both school-level and university-level accounting, supporting learners from their very first introduction to the subject all the way to advanced postgraduate studies. For school learners, I offer support from Grade 8 to Grade 12, helping students understand key topics like the accounting cycle, journals, ledgers, financial statements, VAT, inventory systems, and year-end procedures — all in line with the CAPS curriculum. I focus on building a strong foundation and exam confidence through simplified explanations, guided practice, and real exam-style questions. At university level, I specialise in: Financial Accounting (basic principles through to IFRS-level content) Management Accounting & Finance (budgeting, costing, decision-making) Taxation, Auditing, and Corporate Governance (including CTA support) I am confident teaching Grade 8–12 learners, first-year to final-year university students, and even CTA-level students. My goal is to make accounting clear, practical, and confidence-boosting at every stage.
Yes, I have extensive experience with online teaching platforms and virtual tutoring, having worked with a variety of learners across different levels. I regularly use tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet for live sessions, and I incorporate interactive features such as screen sharing, digital whiteboards, and shared Google Docs to make lessons engaging and effective. My preferred method of communication with students is through email and WhatsApp, depending on their preference. I use these platforms to share notes, provide feedback, answer quick questions, and offer ongoing support between sessions. I also provide summary materials when needed to help students revise at their own pace. Online learning allows for flexibility, personalized attention, and consistent support — and I make sure my students feel confident, connected, and guided every step of the way.
I take a concept-first, application-later approach to ensure students truly understand the accounting principles they’re learning — not just memorise them. I begin by breaking down each concept into simple, relatable explanations, often using real-life examples or stories to bring abstract ideas to life. I ask guided questions to check for understanding as we go, and I encourage students to explain the concepts back to me in their own words — because if they can teach it, they truly know it. To reinforce the knowledge, I: Use step-by-step exercises to help them apply theory in practice. Provide summary notes, diagrams, and memory aids tailored to their learning style. Work through exam-style questions and past papers to build confidence and exam readiness. Revisit tricky areas in future lessons through quick quizzes, revision warm-ups, or mini-concept reviews. I also give regular, constructive feedback and encourage reflection so that students can see their own progress. My goal is to make accounting feel less intimidating and more like a skill they can master — one concept at a time.
I help students prepare for accounting exams by combining clear concept mastery with strategic exam techniques. First, I make sure they have a solid understanding of the key principles through targeted lessons and simplified explanations. Then, I shift the focus to application and exam readiness. My exam prep support includes: Working through past papers and mock exams, timed and marked with detailed feedback Teaching time management strategies, so they know how to pace themselves during the test Focusing on high-weight topics, common traps, and tricky question styles Creating personalized revision plans based on their strengths and weaknesses Providing summary notes, formula sheets, and memory aids for efficient last-minute revision I also teach students how to read and unpack questions, especially in case-study or application-heavy papers like those from SAICA or CTA modules. Above all, I aim to build their confidence, clarity, and calm, so they go into the exam not just prepared — but empowered.
Absolutely! I believe that effective learning continues beyond the lesson, so I provide a range of extra resources to support and reinforce what we cover in class. These include: ? Custom practice exercises and exam-style questions ? Summary notes, cheat sheets, and formula guides tailored to each topic ? Templates for journals, ledgers, financial statements, and budgeting ? Revision checklists, mini-quizzes, and flashcards ? Google Drive or shared folders where students can access their materials anytime I also guide students to reliable online tutorials, tools, and platforms if they need extra practice or want to revise in their own time. My goal is to make sure each learner feels supported, equipped, and confident — even outside of lesson hours.
I support students in preparing for accounting exams and coursework by focusing on conceptual clarity, consistent practice, and confidence-building strategies. I start by making sure students fully understand the theory — not just the “how” but the “why” behind every principle. Once the foundation is solid, we move into structured practice, using past papers, mock assessments, and real exam-style questions to build accuracy and speed. To build confidence, I: Break down complex topics into simple steps Use active recall and mini-quizzes to reinforce memory Celebrate small wins to keep motivation high Create a safe space where mistakes are seen as learning opportunities Provide detailed, constructive feedback so students know exactly where they stand and how to improve I also help students develop exam strategies like time management, question analysis, and prioritisation. By the time they sit their exam or submit coursework, they’ve had enough practice and support to walk in with confidence — and walk out proud of their progress.
