As an Online English Tutor, I always provide my students with activities designed to enhance their writing skills. These include exercises where they use English words in their own sentences, as well as essay writing tasks that encourage them to develop and express their ideas on various topics.
When teaching grammar, I always emphasize the rule of subject–verb agreement so that my students can better understand how to construct grammatically correct English sentences. For spelling, I incorporate spelling drills during our classes to assess my students’ familiarity with the English words we use. Through this activity, they learn the importance of spelling words correctly and how it contributes to effective written communication. For punctuation, I introduce my students to the different punctuation marks and their proper usage as early as the first day of our tutorial session. This helps them become familiar with how each symbol functions and how they differ from one another in writing.
For reading, I assign activities where students read a short story or essay followed by a set of comprehension questions. This allows me to assess their understanding of the material and identify areas where they can further improve. It also helps me, as their tutor, to discover other learning opportunities that can enhance their overall reading and comprehension skills moving forward.
For literary analysis, I expose my students to various literary works such as poems, short stories, and essays. Through this, they learn to compare and analyse different pieces, allowing them to appreciate diverse writing styles and themes. This exposure helps them develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of English literature. For critical thinking, I encourage my students to master the skill of paraphrasing. This practice not only enhances their vocabulary but also broadens their perspective and strengthens their ability to express ideas effectively in English communication.
For pronunciation and enunciation, I teach my students proper speaking techniques such as opening their mouths wider when pronouncing words, maintaining good posture while speaking, focusing on vowel and consonant sounds, and practising breath control. I also incorporate tongue twister exercises to make learning more engaging. Through these methods, my students learn to pronounce English words with clearer tones and more accurate intonation.
To help my students develop their public speaking and presentation skills, I make sure they have ample opportunities to speak during class. I also assign home reading tasks that they present in our next session to assess their understanding. These activities not only enhance their speaking and presentation abilities but also build their confidence and improve their overall mastery of the language.
Yes, in fact, one of the methods I often use to help my students understand complex English grammar is paraphrasing. This technique allows them to express the same idea in different ways while maintaining the original meaning. I also introduce them to various idiomatic expressions to encourage creativity and help them express their thoughts more naturally and effectively in English.
I always remind my students to take one step at a time. I speak to them with sincerity and genuine care, asking where their difficulties lie. From there, I begin creating strategies to help them overcome their fears, challenges, and struggles in learning the English language.
Yes, although some schools may follow different curricula for their students, what truly matters is that as your online English tutor, I will be here to guide you every step of the way. My goal is to help you overcome your challenges, strengthen your English vocabulary, and ultimately become a more confident and effective English communicator.
The importance of taking down notes and staying attentive in class often leads to excellent results in English exams, as students have valuable materials to review and study in preparation for upcoming tests. When it comes to assignments, I always remind them to work independently. Putting in their own effort not only helps them understand the lessons better but also nurtures independence and competitiveness for their future endeavours.
I always strive to make my online classes interactive and student-centred. This approach gives my students more opportunities to speak and express themselves, which keeps them actively engaged and motivated throughout the discussion.
Yes, I always remind my students how to properly prepare for and take English exams. I emphasize the importance of taking notes during class, understanding the exam coverage, reviewing available materials, reading instructions carefully, avoiding haste, and managing their time wisely. Following these practices helps them take their exams with greater confidence and ease.
Yes, I can. As an English tutor, my main goal is to help my students continuously improve their communication skills. That’s why I constantly explore new methods and effective teaching practices to further enhance my effectiveness as an online English tutor.
Yes, I used to teach IELTS classes through Free talk sessions on my previous online English platform. During these sessions, I provided various topics to help students practice not only their speaking and writing skills but also their reading comprehension. I also incorporated audio-recorded conversations and follow-up questions to assess their listening skills and overall understanding.
Yes, in fact, I always encourage my students to keep a thesaurus book with them. I often share that when I was their age, I always carried one in my school bag—it became my constant companion in overcoming my challenges with the English language. Using it regularly helped me expand my vocabulary and deepen my understanding of English over time.
For Business English, I always remind my students to maintain professionalism, especially when writing emails or leading meetings. I often share examples that demonstrate how effective paraphrasing can make their communication sound more polished, engaging, and formal—an essential skill in professional settings.
During our classes, I encourage my students to be more imaginative and expressive in how they perceive and interpret the literary pieces they read. At times, I show them pictures and ask for their thoughts or interpretations. This activity helps them think creatively and express their ideas more freely, nurturing their imagination and developing their skills as English writers.
One of the most effective activities I encourage my students to do to improve their English writing skills is keeping a personal journal. In it, they can freely write about their experiences, dreams, achievements, and goals while learning the language. This practice not only motivates them to write more in English but also helps them develop better thought organisation and self-expression.
