I am a native Mandarin speaker and an experienced tutor currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Communication at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. I teach Chinese language at different levels, from beginners to advanced learners, focusing on conversational fluency and practical use. My lessons incorporate patience, clear explanations, and interactive dialogue, often incorporating popular culture and everyday scenarios to make learning Chinese engaging and relatable. With previous experience in tutoring both high school and adult learners, along with a strong academic background (BA & MA from Beijing Film Academy), I aim to help students build confidence and develop lasting skills in Mandarin.

I am from Shanghai, China. Before I came to Canada to pursue my Master's degree in Education, I worked as a language teacher for more than ten years. I have a strong interest in literature, and I studied Chinese as an undergraduate. During my university years, I read a lot of books on Chinese and foreign literature, including ancient Chinese, during which I laid a solid foundation in literature. After work, I have been working as a language teacher, years of teaching practice has enriched my experience, and at the same time, it also gives me the opportunity to combine theory and practice, and gradually formed my own set of teaching methods and styles. I love education, becoming a teacher is my ideal, I hope to be able to bring students not only knowledge, but also a kind of knowledge and experience of the world, feel the beauty of the world, and find their own value and path.

As a recent A-Level graduate with strong results in General Paper and History, as well as an O-Level graduate with strong results in Chinese and Higher Chinese, I have discovered a passion for guiding others through subjects I have mastered. While I am new to formal tutoring, I have successfully helped peers improve their understanding by breaking down complex topics, patiently answering questions, and sharing study strategies that have worked for me. For example, after supporting friends with math and history, their grades improved by an average of one level. My recent exam experience means I understand common student struggles and can explain concepts in a clear, approachable way. Currently no experience with teaching, but have gotten good o levels results of raw 7 net 3, As for 8 subjects. I grew up in a Chinese speaking environment and took higher Chinese in secondary school, and got A1 for o levels Chinese and A2 for higher Chinese. I’ve always liked Math and have gotten A1s for both A math and E math for o levels. Graduated from Raffles Institution and am currently waiting for results to be released.
