I have been a teacher for 32 years in three different countries and at all levels of education. I take my responsibility to my students very seriously and take great care to get to know them and their specific needs very clearly so that I can help them in a precise and focused way to find their best way forward - be that to the exam, to easier communication or freer writing in English. I studied English at Rhodes University and the bulk of my teaching has been at A-level and at Matric for both English Literature and English Language. I have also examined in both South Africa and in England (for several exam boards) so I have a good understanding of the skills the examiners are looking for and how to make sure that my students meet those requirements. Finally, I also have several years of experience teaching students who are highly disenchanted with education and am therefore good at motivating disinterested students and finding ways of re-engaging their interest. Recently, I have begun teaching online and have greatly enjoyed teaching a wide variety of international students, preparing them for IELTS exams (with great success) or helping them to prepare for presentations in English or any other needs they might have in English. I currently live in the beautiful Garden Route of South Africa.
