Greetings! I’m Ms. Lucel Carias Calamba. I was born and raised in Bohol, Philippines. I’m the eldest among four children of my dear parents, Mr. Joel Evangelista Calamba and Jesusa Carias Calamba. I was named after my paternal grandparents, Luisa & Marcelino Calamba. I grew up in a caring family circle in our rural and urban homes and with a set of supportive mentors at schools who exposed me to a variety of training, skills development programs, and educational foundations from my early childhood learning years through my university years. I started my primary education in Buenasuerte Elementary School. Then, I continued my secondary education in Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School (originally known as Provincial High School/Bohol (National) High School) which was founded by Thomasites (a group of American teachers). After 4 years, I finished my Bachelor in Secondary Education Major in English Degree at Holy Name University (Tagbilaran City Bohol, Philippines) where I was a pioneering member of the University’s performing/theater arts group. My teaching profession was inspired by my tutorial time with my younger sister and cousins, and by my Grade 6 teacher/music trainer who assigned me some teacher writing tasks when I was 12. Aside from my formal education, I also learned in the informal learning center of Herliz Music Studio and Instruments for my music/singing skills, where I gained teaching experience for voice lessons/pop singing after my recital. The music studio where I studied and took my part-time teaching job also gave me the opportunity to be part of their song artists/international music band that traveled across the United Arab Emirates and in some Arab States of the Persian Gulf, especially in Doha Qatar and Manama Bahrain, as well as in the Philippines from 2005-2008. After working as a song artist, I pursued my teaching career in an international school in Bangkok, Thailand where I have been happily teaching.

Hey there! My name is Kayla Graham and I am from Cleveland, Ohio, USA. I recently moved to Hamburg in the beginning of 2019 and have found myself as an English teacher! I love watching my students knowledge and confidence grow with every lesson. I have been working with children, teens, and adults. In America, I studied Environmental Science(specifically Sustainable Agriculture). I also was an art teacher in for Kindergarten to 6th graders, and did weekend art classes with adults! I love working with young children and incorporating art and fun games into my lessons. With teens, I love helping their vocabulary grow and helping them at the harder topics they may struggle with in school. As for adults, I really enjoy helping conversation flow and working with pronunciation and overall confidence. My English classes are a judgement free zone. Learning a language does not need to be uncomfortable and stressful, instead, it should be something exciting and new! Living in Germany it has been very hard not speaking fluent German and I am still at a beginner level, but I think that has helped me grow as a teacher. It has forced me to try new things and I can really relate to my students.
