After living in Hong Kong for 18 years, I can confidently say that I’ve mastered the art of navigating the MTR and surviving on bubble tea alone. I also speak basic Cantonese—enough to order dim sum but not quite enough to discuss quantum physics! I hold a CertTESOL Level 5 from Trinity College, which sounds impressive, doesn’t it? I assure you, it’s not just a fancy piece of paper—I’ve accrued three years of teaching students of all ages, from young children who think grammar is a type of dinosaur to adults who want to impress their colleagues with impeccable emails. In addition to my teaching experience, I have 16 years in communications in international schools. This means I can help students polish their writing skills. My goal is to help students express themselves clearly and confidently in English, all while having a bit of fun! Hello! I'm a certified teacher with over 20 years of field experience in the US and multiple international classroom settings, including seminars, small groups and private tutoring. My family and I have lived in Bangkok since 2017, and we love it here! I'm passionate about engaging students actively and experientially in their learning. I was previously a student in the History Department at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (I left due to health issues after my third year) and am currently applying for a transfer. In 2020, I achieved an English score of 5 (5*/5/5*/4). In 2022, I retook the English DSE and achieved a total score of 5**, with a 5** in Reading Paper 1 and a 5* in Integrated Paper 3, and a grade 5 in Writing Paper 2. This year, I also achieved band 8 (9/8/7/7) in IELTS General Training (*not Academic). I have four years of tutoring experience and have worked part-time as an English tutor at a tutoring center, teaching students from Form 1 to Form 6. Some students improved their scores by 30 points in just one month on their school assessments, and many DSE candidates achieved their desired results. I am familiar with the curriculum and have valuable insights and experience in teaching.
