I am looking to teach English to primary school children in Hong Kong, preferably those with prerequisite knowledge and fluency in the language. I live in Park Island, Ma Wan, in New Territories. Some useful information regarding me and my background: - I am fluent in English and can speak conversational Cantonese and Mandarin. - I attended ESF's King George V School - graduating in mid-June 2020. - I have completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma, having studied IB English Language & Literature at Higher Level with a predicted score of 6/7 points. - I am set to study Finance at Durham University in the United Kingdom, starting in September 1, 2020. A global top 100 university! - Funnily enough, I have a younger sister in primary school, and I love spending time with her. I believe I am able to connect and resonate with younger children very well. - I have experience teaching and managing small children through school-provided extra-curricular activities and overseas trips. **Most notably, bonding with orphans in Xi An, China and as a school House Captain, playing icebreaker games & educating large groups of Year 6 students entering King George V School for their secondary education** - I have been living in Hong Kong for almost 15 years. I understand the importance of acquiring fluency in this language, both locally and internationally. I believe any child has the ability to be proficient in English, and being a part of their learning journey would enhance their linguistic skills to a great extent. - I am flexible in terms of teaching location. In the past, I have won prizes for my achievements both in literary expression in English (grand prize) and German (Scheffel award). A recent graduate with a 2.1 BA (Hons) in Drama and English Literature from The University of Birmingham, I am a passionate person who endeavours to enthuse young people to flourish both academically and personally. While at university, I sought out a voluntary position in the Education department at Birmingham Botanical Gardens, in order to engage with outreach learning in the leisure industry. I have also assisted with a theatre group while at sixth form college, tutoring secondary school students in singing techniques and holding warmups at the beginning of rehearsals. Most recently, I have worked within two secondary schools as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the English department, providing support across KS3 and KS4, both within a large class and with small groups. In addition, I also became involved in providing support for SEN students and effectively dealing with pastoral issues, due to my empathetic and sensitive demeanour.
