Frank's Individual Cello Lessons I was born in Prague into a family with a distinguished cultural background. I have been playing the cello since early childhood. Following my cello studies at the Prague Conservatoire, I completed my Master's degree at the Janacek Academy of Music (JAMU) in the Czech Republic. I furthered my cello skills at the Toho Gakuen Academy in Japan and later under the guidance of legendary cellist Prof. Anna Shuttleworth (a student of Pablo Casals) in the United Kingdom (Eton Cello Master Classes and the University of Leeds). I have won the 2nd prizes at the Anglo-Czech Competition in London, the International String Competition London, and the International String Competition Jihlava. I have been awarded many scholarships and fellowships, including the Czech Music Foundation, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Music Foundation OSA, Socrates-Erasmus, and the Gideon Klein Foundation. I chose to dedicate my life to the interpretation of cello compositions written by composers of the 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries, giving special consideration to compositions for solo cello. My favorites are cello suites by J. S. Bach, M. Reger, and B. Britten. I am particularly involved in researching, studying, and performing works by Czech, Jewish, and Terezin and contemporary composers, playing on a "George Kriwalski" cello made in 1904. As a soloist, I have performed at many festivals in Algeria, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and the United Kingdom. I have been teaching cello for many years. I have experience in teaching students at all levels, able to give master classes as well as support beginners. I am giving cello master classes in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and remotely online via Zoom/Skype. I am currently accepting new cello students. All ages and abilities are welcome!

Hola! I'm Angelica, a professional cellist from Venezuela living in Barcelona with a Bachelor's and Master's Degree. I have played the cello for 27 years and have acquired extensive experience in professional ensembles and orchestras. I have also participated in multiple recording sessions of classical, traditional, and pop music. Additionally, I have been a professor at different conservatories and music schools. In my lessons, I offer the student a fun and effective mind-body integration with the cello. I will show the student how to quickly solve a passage, find the root of a problem, clarify doubts in music theory, and incorporate the cello with a physical sense of comfort. This way, the student will feel at ease and finally be able to enjoy the music that is already inside them. If you are starting out in the cello, all of the above is valid and will serve as your base for takeoff!

With 10+ years of teaching experience and a love for both classical and contemporary styles, I tailor lessons to fit each student’s goals—whether you're a beginner or refining advanced techniques. My teaching focuses on strong fundamentals, expressive playing, and, most importantly, making music fun! Let’s create something beautiful together.

I completed my BA (Hons.) in Music in 2012 under the guidance of Dr. Letty Poon and Mr. Stephen Yam. My cello journey began in 2004, during which I participated in various local orchestras and ensembles as both a section soloist and tutti member. I was an active member of the Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra from 2013 to 2022. Driven by strong curiosity, I enrolled at the Chicago School of Violin Making (2015–2018). During my time in the U.S., I furthered my cello studies with Mr. Steven Houser. I also performed as a cello tutti member for The Savoyaires (Evanston, IL) and the Park Ridge Civic Orchestra (IL), and served as principal cellist for the North Shore Chamber Orchestra. Believing that modern cellists should be versatile in all styles of music—from Baroque to Cantopop—I incorporate a wide range of repertoire in my lessons. My goal is to help students become well-rounded cellists!

Mat Music is a virtual music school that operates online. When communicating with students, we use the Zoom videoconferencing service. We are here to assist you in learning piano, violin, guitar, bass, cello, flute, saxophone, drums, and voice classes in the comfort of your own home. Our mission is to share our passion for music and build relationships with others while having fun with the process of learning together.
