Hi, my name is Rob Schweitzer. I have been teaching for over 30 years and through the years I have gotten to know a number of strategies to help children not just learn material, but really understand the concepts behind what they are learning. This enables them to apply what they learn in one subject in order to help them with other subjects.

As a tutor, it is important that your child is comfortable with me, so I make it my priority to learn as much as possible about your child's interests and what motivates them to want to learn and keep them focused. I believe in the "whole child" approach to teaching, keeping in mind the intellectual/social-emotional and developmental aspects of each of my students.

My teaching method involves assessing what your child already knows in order to plan for our instruction. I engage my students by communicating on their level, always treating them with the utmost respect. I concentrate on building on what they already know and the skills they possess and then moving from there. On-going informal observations and assessments will keep you informed about your child's progress. Communication is the key!
