Finding a tutor is no easy feat. Coming from someone who had a different learning style than many of my classmates, I always thought it would be impossible to find someone who could tutor me, so I never tried, but I should have. I absolutely commend you for getting this far and searching for someone who can help you out and help you gain more confidence in the subject that you've been struggling in. For the past ten years, I've been coaching, mentoring, and tutoring students, friends, and children I've babysat for. Throughout my time, I've found three important qualities that I think are essential for tutoring: dedication, patience, and understanding. Each individual has a different background, personality, and learning style. In order for me to give my best to each student, I take the time to get to know them--truly learning what they need and want to get out of each session. By adapting my teaching style to each person, I've found that my clients can appreciate the subject more, are able to relate certain things to their own life for better understanding, and walk away with more confidence. I know what it feels like to struggle in a subject and not feel heard or understood. It can be an awful feeling, so I hope I'll be able to help you. Hello! My name is Habiba and I've been a tutor for the last 4 years. I can help you prep for the SAT, TOEFL, DAT, GRE or tutor you in secondary as well as advanced graduate courses. I hold a PhD in Renaissance English from the University of Miami, an MA in English from Rutgers University, and a BA in English and Women's Studies from Pace University. I am currently an adjunct professor, teaching courses in college composition and a wide range of classes in literature including Renaissance literature, women's writing, world literature, introduction to literary studies, British and American literature, and more! One of my core principles as an instructor is public literacy: tutoring allows me, one-on-one, to tailor instruction to not only the student's current educational needs but also to the public arena(s) to which they want to contribute. Focusing on public literacy allows me to prepare students of all ages for their roles as academic contributors in high school and college as well as their professional roles later on. I believe that every student can, with some help, harness the power inherent in literacy of all kinds -- which increasingly includes digital literacy -- to achieve their goals and give back to their communities and families. As a college professor, I have a unique perspective to help younger students prepare for college or other educational endeavors, but also to help college students to prepare for graduate school and their careers. I hope I can help you improve your writing for academic or professional purposes, to understand literature on a deeper level, and to develop critical thinking skills to last a lifetime!

I am currently working as a Software engineer, and my motto there is to write efficient code. That's what I'll be teaching my students; how to write efficient code, exposure of the students to the market's procedures and making their basics about the computers really strong. This will benefit the students to grow exponentially, as their focus will be on market trends.

Hi! I'm Rafael. I graduated cum laude in computer engineering from one of the top universities in Brazil and have a master of science degree from Columbia University. I am currently a Machine Learning Engineerat Google and love to teach/tutor students to help them achieve better results! I have been a teaching assistant since my time in college, and have always tried to keep doing it - either formally or informally. I participate in several non-profit organisations as mentor for low income students in Brazil and truly believe in education as the key to change lives. My academic background is very quantitative, mainly mathematics, physics and programming. For programming, I am most comfortable with Python and its data science stack (numpy, pandas, tensorflow etc.), but I also have had experience with other languages such as C# and Java. I’m Greis Torres, a New York City based reporter who has also dabbed her feet a little in the PR and democratic education worlds. I graduated Cum Laude in May 2019 with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in Anthropology from CUNY York College, where I was heavily involved in the student newspaper. My work experience ranges from interning at a democratic school, working in CUNY York College’s official student newspaper, Pandora’s Box, and radio station, YC Radio, doing investigative reporting in NYC and interning at a public relations and marketing agency where I worked closely with the hospitality account executive. Throughout my college career, I published over 30 articles in the official newspaper of my school where I became an editor and later, the editor-in-chief. I have experience writing features, spot news and in-depth stories. Outside of Pandora’s Box, I have also published stories in City Limits, Campus News and WhoWhatWhy. A prominent in-depth story I reported on when I was the EIC of Pandora’s Box about a deal between CUNY York College and Royal Waste, a waste and recycle hauling company, rendered me a finalist for the Professional Society of Journalists Mark of Excellence In-Depth reporting (small) region 1. Besides telling stories I’m also passionate about culture, languages (I am fluent both in Spanish and English, a beginner in French and would love to learn Finnish), singing, cooking and photography.

I am a recent graduate of Bard High School Early College, where I earned an Associates Degree. I took classes in Calculus, Physics, Latin, English, and many other subjects, all of which I am eager to help other people learn. I worked in the writing center at my school, where I learned how to help tutor students with English and composition skills. I also took the SAT and the SAT subject tests recently, and am able to help tutor people in the material for both tests. Next fall, I am beginning college at Yale University, but for the summer I am excited to help tutor people in NYC!
