Annette R. Valdes is a Primary and Secondary Tutor in the boonies of Chicago, IL, who assists students in understanding, learning, absorbing, and succeeding in their studies. Before taking on the role of a tutor/instructor, Annette went back to school to enhance her knowledge. After successfully completing an AAS degree with a 4.0 GPA, she felt confident enough to tackle teaching a homeschooling high school regimen for her two sons. With the success of their acceptance and enrollment, into different colleges, a new venture was spawned which provided the start of a new chapter. Annette was asked if she would tutor children with whom she cared for as their Nanny. Additionally, the children’s neighborhood friends also joined in for the study/tutoring sessions. Annette’s tutoring success was continually evident due to the way the children flourished and learned to love or at least appreciate school. Most recently, Annette graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.955 from the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS). Her years of study were in the online format. She welcomes and looks forward to the opportunity to assist with educational ventures. During Annette's time at UIS, she continually received accolades from her professors for her submissions of both long essays, research documentation, and bulletin board short answers. Through her education, she has mastered English topics such as grammar, sentence structure, mechanics, and vocabulary. I can also supply elementary Mathematics tutoring as well as Military History.

I teach advanced business English. I draw upon a working life of self-employment and an entrepreneurial mindset. I am a trained lawyer and my specialty is the efficiency of the written word. I also like to encourage critical thinking and spontaneous debating on a wide variety of subjects, normally chosen to suit the student. My training focuses on functional communication at a high level of competence and therefore my students tend to have a minimum of B2 English before we begin. I am Scottish but I live in Goettingen Germany. My students tell me that I am easy to talk to and that my lessons are interesting and fun, which makes learning easier and more effective.

I have extensive experience in research, writing, and analysis. My experience comes from earning Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and English (graduated with Honors). I graduated from law school, where I published a law journal article and worked as editor-in-chief of a law journal. As a lawyer, I utilized written and verbal communication skills in my everyday practice and, particularly, when I wrote, published, and presented numerous articles, chapters, briefs, motions and hearings. My law experience was central to my advancement as a writer and critical thinker. I am furthering my knowledge and experience as a PhD student in Sociology.

I am an English native teacher and have many years of experience in teaching core subjects in a number of schools. I have worked closely with students who have English as a second language and I teach through a creative and imaginative style to inspire all my students and help them achieve.
