Teaching more than just Economics - how it all fits together from history to sustainability.
A good economist is a historian, philosopher, ecologist, sociologist, psychologist, scientist, and even a little bit of a businessperson. Economics is an imperfect discipline, but if you want to develop your critical thinking skills and your understanding of the world, then it is an essential subject.
Hi, I'm Cameron, an interdisciplinary teacher who has studied Economics, History, Philosophy, and Political Science, with a particular focus on climate change and environmental issues. My strengths lie in linking Economics to real-world applications and explaining the philosophy behind the subject. I love teaching Economics and asking students "what ought to be done," helping them improve their argumentation skills. The joy of Economics is partly the uncertainty and making educated guesses. It's a complex subject, and making predictions is difficult, but very satisfying when correct.
I got poor grades in school as I struggled and found it deeply uninteresting. Thanks to good A-Level teachers (16-18 in the UK), I was able to turn it around and excel academically since then, earning firsts in all of my qualifications. I believe that this experience of academic failure and success makes me well-suited to help a lot of students, especially those struggling in their studies.
I also love reading about UK and global politics, the climate crisis, and even a little bit about the stock market.
