I’m Greis Torres, a New York City based reporter who has also dabbed her feet a little in the PR and democratic education worlds.
I graduated Cum Laude in May 2019 with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in Anthropology from CUNY York College, where I was heavily involved in the student newspaper.
My work experience ranges from interning at a democratic school, working in CUNY York College’s official student newspaper, Pandora’s Box, and radio station, YC Radio, doing investigative reporting in NYC and interning at a public relations and marketing agency where I worked closely with the hospitality account executive.
Throughout my college career, I published over 30 articles in the official newspaper of my school where I became an editor and later, the editor-in-chief. I have experience writing features, spot news and in-depth stories. Outside of Pandora’s Box, I have also published stories in City Limits, Campus News and WhoWhatWhy.
A prominent in-depth story I reported on when I was the EIC of Pandora’s Box about a deal between CUNY York College and Royal Waste, a waste and recycle hauling company, rendered me a finalist for the Professional Society of Journalists Mark of Excellence In-Depth reporting (small) region 1.
Besides telling stories I’m also passionate about culture, languages (I am fluent both in Spanish and English, a beginner in French and would love to learn Finnish), singing, cooking and photography.

Hi, I'm Daniel, a writing tutor based in Johannesburg. Having worked as a journalist for the past few years, writing has become my passion.
It can be a tricky skill to master early on and if not properly grasped at the high school level, it can become a burden at university. This is not a case of being able to write elegantly but rather to communicate a concept or argument effectively.
It's never too early or too late to start honing your ability to write. You use it in several subjects at school, from languages to history and biology. University students undoubtedly require this skill whether they're in their first or final year.
No matter the degree, lecturers will begin asking students to submit assignments and exam questions in written form. In some cases, final year exams comprise two or three long questions.
Instead of dreading those essay assignments and questions, and missing out on easy marks, let's sharpen your writing skills and ace those essays!
My first lessons are always free to test the waters and determine how best to solve the problem at hand.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
