I teach English Language Arts and English as a Foreign Language. I've worked in Egypt, the United States, and now Kuwait. My educational background is a BA in languages with a minor in linguistics, and an MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I specialize in test preparation, homework help, and test preparation for students in American system schools following the Common Core curriculum. I have some experience in history and social studies as well, but my main focus area is in ELA/EFL. I am based out of Hawally, KW, but can travel to locations if needed. I have been teaching in an international school for over 10 years. Through my past experience, I have developed a specific child-centered approach to my teaching. During my time working at an international school, I have been involved in developing systems to help improve the development of the children alongside colleagues and parents. I have been responsible for writing and communicating with parents about the school curriculum, supporting local charities with social events, and writing articles for the city newspaper promoting education to the local community. I enjoyed this so much that I have helped co-write a book which is for sale on Amazon called “Being a Teacher – Teaching and learning in a global context.” In the classroom, I teach EYFS, but I also try to incorporate the Montessori Method, which I learned from other teachers during training seminars and Montessori workshops. I pride myself on having a classroom that is welcoming, with an interactive environment where children feel happy, safe, and encouraged to explore and develop as confident, independent learners.
