Hi all! My name is Emily - I'm an MFA student in an interactive media arts program in Brooklyn with an MA in Theatre History and Criticism and undergraduate degrees in Comparative Literature and French. I am active in the arts scene in New York and in the broader academic scene in the states, having presented at conferences along the East Coast. I am an experienced writer in all types of different styles and am comfortable with both creative and professional content, so I would love to help with essays or creative writing assignments (I am weirdly excited by new projects of that kind). Additionally, I do SAT / GRE (etc.) verbal sections, as I scored well but understand how foreign these tests can feel at times. I'm also an experienced English as second (or third or fourth) language teacher and would be interested in working with students in this context, especially French speakers as I am an advanced learner French myself. As a child, I discovered that I wanted to become a teacher, and often acted as a teacher with my cousins and sister. Daily I taught my “students” lectures regarding Math and English, and at the end, gave them assignments to submit. I am Ellen, 35 years old from the Philippines. I graduated BS Psychology and currently taking Early Childhood Education. I also had a brief experience teaching Korean students ages 4-6 years old, as an ESL teacher before working for Convergys.

Hi. I am Jan Leibovitz Alloy. Am an editor, writer, and tutor, working primarily with high school students on English, reading, and writing. I have also taught English and Interpersonal Communications at the college level. Have taught preschools as well and love to work one-on-one with students who love to learn. I have written two books, including a historical field guide to Michigan, and currently am editing short stories and a nonfiction book for publication.

I have experience teaching English to children and adults In Canada and overseas and am passionate about creative writing and reading. I have a Bachelors degree from the University of Victoria and have taught reading comprehension, creative writing, and academic writing to both children and adults. I teach the basics of English grammar, reading, sentence structure, editing, essay structure and more. Aside from tutoring, I am currently completing a Fine Arts Studio program and reconnecting with my family and friends in Toronto. In my spare time I train in contemporary dance and go for hikes outside the city.

Rose Stanley is a writer, artist, published poet, and a seasoned English teacher of 20+ years. Her work with urban students and the surrounding community on a “Poetry Slam” earned her the teacher of the year award in 2001. She also teaches theatre and production to high school continuation students and has produced 4 plays at the local high school level.
