Hi, I’m an experienced and approachable tutor based in the Netherlands, offering support in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, English, and Geography. I have been studying at the British School in the Netherlands since Year 8 and am familiar with both the British curriculum and the IB. I achieved 8s and 9s in 11 GCSE subjects, including all three sciences, Maths, English Language and Literature, Geography, Dutch, Drama, Photography, and Bengali. In the IB, I was predicted a 43, with 7s in Higher Level Biology and Chemistry, and a 6 in Higher Level Maths. Over the past three years, I have worked with students at various levels. My approach centres on developing both subject understanding and strong exam technique. This combination has proven effective: I have personally gone from 4s and 5s in Year 10 to mostly 9s by the end of Year 11. More importantly, I’ve supported students in doing the same. One student I worked with improved from a grade 3 to a grade 7 in just five months. I am also currently tutoring a Year 10 student who is consistently achieving 8s and 9s in sciences, English, and Geography. I tailor each session to meet the student’s needs and learning goals. I am flexible with scheduling and always make an effort to provide extra support around exam time. I am currently a student at HKBU, Journalism ( Year 2). Being a Journalism student, I am well equipped with great writing skills, communication skills as well. I can get along with all of my students quickly because it is important to have a sense of trust towards a stranger who will kind of be responsible for your education for a while right. I am a Hong Kong born Indian, and I can speak fluent Cantonese and English, which is another factor that allows all my students, local students especially to pick up what I am trying to teach really quick. Contrary to popular opinion, I do believe that incorporating your mother tongue to the language you are trying to improve will be very beneficial for you. I allow all my students to use Cantonese as well as English while we are learning, of course i set up strict rules on the quota as well. Creative writing, language speaking, phonics , pronunciation and much more. Anything about English I can handle, as i did get a 5* IN MY DSE 2019. I use a variety of methods such as games OR IPADS to kind of make the lesson more fun to students. I believe a lesson should be a long education activity, and a teacher should be a funny mentor. Apart from English, I teach some students accents as well, for example British or American accents, and I have noticed that most of my students have developed really nice accents which just rolls of their tongue really good.
