I have two years’ experience in teaching students who are 10 years old in Mathematics and students who are 14 years old English. I am currently a Student Assistant at an all-girls primary school.

Whether it's the basics in grade school or the research papers in college, language is necessary to comprehend every facet of life. Small things like understanding the different between "there," "their," and "they're" or the bigger things like why it's important to cite properly in a research are equally important as we age into adulthood. That is why I love teaching English. Currently, I reside in Southern California and I am looking into teaching as a career. When I'm not studying, I am playing board games with friends, trying new foods, and live streaming my favorite computer games.

Sebastien Wen is a recent graduate from the MA in English and Creative writing program at the University of Toronto. Prior to that, he completed his undergraduate degree in English and Creative writing (Honors) at the University of British Columbia. He is the 2014 National Youth Poetry Slam Champion and has publications in Arc, Event Magazine, The Dalhousie Review, Open Canada, Prairie Fire Magazine and Vallum, among others. He is the recipient of the EJ Pratt Medal In Poetry (2018) and the Avie Bennet Emerging Writers Award (2017). He has a passion for teaching and has spent the last two years working as a teaching assistant at the University of Toronto. Prior to that, Sebastien tutored extensively students of all ages. He has a holistic approach to teaching and tries to foster both creativity and critical thinking in students. He is available to teach literature, social science, and technical writing.

I have teaching experience in the first - second, and third-grade levels. I believe my teaching experience and passion for community engagement make me an ideal tutor. I have worked in the UAE for 13 years and although it was a challenge to teach the English language to these children, it was the most exciting and memorable time of my life. I not only gave them knowledge but I have learnt so much from them and this is why I am so passionate about being a teacher. I have lots of experience incorporating community service projects into my classrooms. For example, as a grade teacher, I led a unit for first-graders on plant life, and we planted plants and trees at our school community garden. I would love to find ways to integrate service learning into my lesson plans.
