Hello from the Long Island Green Dome! My name is Versha, and I teach English as a second language to students living in other countries and in the US as well. I teach students from ages 5–18 looking to improve their conversational and academic English. I use content and language-based strategies to teach vocabulary and critical thinking skills. I am a certified ESL teacher with specialized certifications in teaching young learners and error correction. I recently became a Master Gardener and learned about best garden practices and giving back to the community as a volunteer. I have been an owner and Instructor of an after-school supplemental learning center (Kumon). I operated and taught Math and Reading at Kumon for 12 years during which I also raised two amazing sons who are computer engineers. They credit supplemental learning for their success in school. Supplemental learning benefits all students! I have taught English as a second language online and in classrooms. I taught young students and adult students in Nicaragua at a bi-lingual school and also learned Spanish myself! I have taught and currently teach English online to students of all ages from China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Brazil, India, and Korea. I have traveled to India, Iceland, Spain, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. I speak Hindi fluently and Spanish at the beginner level. I am looking forward to meeting you! Anza has spent five years working consistently as both a tutor and a teaching assistant. She began her professional career as a tutor and teaching assistant at Sam Hughes Elementary School in Arizona. She loved this job as much as both the teachers and students enjoyed having her, and continued on at this location for 4 years. Upon graduation from the University of Arizona (where she also worked as a preceptor in college courses), Anza began a new job at Kumon Math and Reading Center in Los Angeles, quickly moving up the ranks to become a lead teacher and administrative assistant working with students from pre-school to 4th grade. Anza now lives in New York City and is hoping to continue the work she is so passionate about. While working with Anza, students can expect an environment where questions are encouraged and getting something wrong only means you are one step closer to understanding how to get it right. Learning should not be a stressful pursuit of grades, but an opportunity to know more about the world and ourselves. Anza is patient, conscientious and believes that when given the correct individualized tools for learning, each student is capable of not only thriving academically, but also enjoying the education process.

While I am currently a teaching fellow instructing both English and Writing at Queens College, CUNY, I find personal tutoring sessions are often the most productive way to engage students and increase their capabilities and productiveness. I have a Masters Degree in Education and a Bachelors in English. A favorite passion of mine is the academic conversation in which one may explore opposing points-of-view and similar views in literature. I have taught high school for three years and religious education for eight years. Additionally, I have been an advocate/counselor in a shelter for two years and served in the military for three. Hello, I'm Ananda and I'm a rising junior studying Environment at McGill University. I also hold an A.A. in Liberal Arts from Bard College. I am mainly an English tutor, and I have a year and a half of experience doing so for college credit. I scored a 34/35 on each of the Math, English, and Science sections of the ACT, and a 35/36 on the Reading section.
