Hello, my name is Mara, and I am from Florida, USA. I'm a native English speaker and speak with a standard north American Accent. I enjoy spending my free time doing art, cooking, traveling with my husband, and playing with our cats, Sweetheart and Black Bean. I have a Master’s Degree in Urban & Regional Planning with a professional background in City Planning and Local government. I’m also certified as an ESL and IELTS test preparation tutor. My goal is to help you develop the confidence needed to master the English language. I offer instruction and tutoring in the following areas: 1) IELTS Test preparation: I can help students foster the reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills needed for both the Academic and General IELTS Examinations. Most of all, I can help students gain the confidence they need to improve the likelihood of earning a higher testing bandwidth score. 2) Business English: I can help Business, Urban Planning, and Public Administration professionals develop their business English skills. I can help you with: • Structured business-focused conversation practice • Oral English • Phonics, grammar, and vocabulary training • Proofreading and writing • Accent coaching (Native USA/North American Accent) I have a friendly, laid-back, yet structured instructing approach. Prior to launching our first tutoring session, I will develop a tutoring plan that will highlight your short and long-term English-learning goals. In addition, I will create a customized lesson plan and curriculum for each tutoring session, and adjust it, as needed. Afterwards, I will follow-up with a detailed feedback report. The feedback report, which is standard for every class, will document the lesson content, student strengths, and areas of improvement.
