My interactions with my students are always fun and lively! I believe that patience and kindness are important in helping my students close their learning gaps. I have seen my students develop the confidence to ask me lots of questions and, more importantly, become motivated to pursue self-improvement as a result. I love teaching and have taught for 20 years, from kindergarten to JC level. I am well-versed in the Montessori phonics teaching method and have taught English in MOE secondary schools. I have experience providing teacher professional development at MOE HQ. I also have a Master of Science (International Relations) and worked as a political science researcher in an NTU think tank, specializing in Southeast Asian politics and Cold War history. My teaching expertise and research background have helped 100% of my students improve (from fail to pass, from B to A), as I am able to identify strategies that best fit their learning needs. I am an English teacher with over 10 years of experience. Currently, I work at a major international school based in Bahrain and primarily teach learners at the middle school and IGCSE/GCSE levels. My specializations are linguistics and literature, and I currently cover the Cambridge curriculum, although I am also familiar with the Edexcel and AQA curricula. I believe that the key to success is building rapport with students and truly understanding them on an individual basis. Whether it's comprehension, writing compositions, or spoken English, I strive to see improvement in my students. Previously, I worked at the British Council Bahrain for just under 5 years, where I provided classes to a wide range of students, from ages 5 to 17 as well as adults. During this time, I developed a large portfolio of my own lessons and lesson plans, while also focusing on my own professional development. The types of classes I taught included general English, business English, and IELTS. Currently, I am teaching both Language and Literature using the Cambridge curriculum to years 9, 10, and 11. As an online tutor, my aim is to supplement learning from other avenues, whether it be school, university, or a general desire to improve language proficiency. I believe the best way to do this is to know in advance what the student would like to cover and prepare relevant and engaging lessons accordingly. This approach has previously worked well on a weekly basis or simply for one-off sessions to assess or review English language skills. I can tutor for the full range of proficiency levels and have experience teaching students with no prior experience as well as those who wish to hone their fluency through conversation. My name is Ivan, and I am pleased to meet you. Since then, I have developed my career and currently work as a language consultant for a group of 4 IT companies in the center of Bangkok. In this role, I am responsible for improving the level of English for 100 adult staff. I have been teaching English since 2018 and I hold a graduate diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) from Waikato Institute of Technology, New Zealand. Originally from Russia, I now reside in New Zealand. I have been living here since 2013. I got married in New Zealand, we’ve got a beautiful little boy who is currently two years old.
