I am a mechanical engineer and math teacher with over 20 years of experience teaching math and physics. I have a passion for teaching and making complex topics easy to understand for students.

For over 15 years, I have been an on-site and online private tutor, specializing in mathematics, physics, and computer science subjects from secondary to graduate levels. I am Scott. I currently live in Bangkok. I studied Mathematics and Physics at The Ohio State University and The University of Illinois in the USA. I have a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Ohio State University. I am very skilled at relating to students of all ages. I did A Levels in the UK, achieving straight 4As in Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and Further Maths. I went to the University of Oxford for Engineering Science (Bachelor and Masters). I am familiar with both the UK iGCSE and IB syllabus. As a chartered CPA and MBA graduate from Tsinghua/MIT Sloan Business school, I can teach accounting and business-related subjects. I have years of working experience in Private Equity and M&A consulting. I have been teaching students for more than 10 years. I am skilled at explaining abstract concepts and training students with a high aim for public exams. I am available to travel, but mainly teach on HK Island only.

I have been teaching in Asia for the past 16 years at the Upper and Middle school levels in Maths, Science, and Computer Science. I am located in Salaya, just outside Bangkok. I am fully qualified as a Maths teacher (from the UK, can provide documents) at the middle and upper school levels. I have taught in both the UK and in Asia. Hi, I am Cyrus. I obtained a Master of Science from the University of California, Berkeley (Ranked #8 in World University Ranking, 2025) and a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University. I am a Math tutor for public exams, including the IB, GCE A Level, and US college/graduate school entrance exams, including the Quant section of SSAT, SAT, GRE, and GMAT. For more ambitious students, I offer tutoring in SAT subject tests in Math and Physics, as well as AP exams in Math and Physics. With over 8 years of tutoring experience, I have taught over 170 students from various international schools, such as HKIS, KGV, Canadian International School, Island School, German Swiss International School, and South Island School. I have a total of 12 years of teaching experience. I spent 8 years teaching mathematics in two highly successful independent schools in England before moving to Hong Kong, where I have spent the last 4 years teaching at GSIS. While in the UK, I gained experience teaching both A-level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. I had numerous classes who achieved exclusively A*/A grades, and I had similar success with my IGCSE classes. I also helped those who found this subject more challenging reach their full potential. During my time at GSIS, I have gained experience delivering the IB HL Mathematics: Analysis & Approaches course. Additionally, I have been appointed as an examiner for the IB.
