Passionate Math and Physics Teacher in College Station
I have start tutoring back in my Bachelor degree as a way to help my college understand the materials we were handling. After graduation I have taken this one step further and start tutoring in a local tutoring academy in my home town for 2 years so far. I have taught several subjects that either related to my field or from high school such as math and physics. I like to guide students out through their course works, assignments..etc so that they can find out where are their short links and weakness in the material so they can focus more on it and improve it. Moreover, if needed I try to explain the same concept from different perspective to make it easier for students to understand it and give examples to strengthen it as practice makes perfect. I mainly teach math classes up to highschool level as well as kinetics physics and statistics along with material related to my area of expertise "Civil Engineering" such as Statics, Structural analysis and design..etc. Moreover, I have a good knowledge computer software such as AutoCAD and Microsoft suite specially Excel. In fact I like to develop spread sheets for different subjects that I encounter as I believe programming skills help understand and memorize the material better and it develope student ability to think outside the box and develop a working steps which matches what he would usually do in the exams. Currently I live in College Station TX, as a TAMU PHD student and available to student around the main campus as long as they are within a walking distance (up to 30-40 min walking) since I don't have car to go farther than that.

Anything is possible when you put your mind to it
Hi, my name is Charlene, My aunt was a Math teacher and growing up it was a difficult subject for me. She always taught me that anything was possible once I put my mind to it. With time and lots of practice, I started loving Mathematics. When I graduated from high school I began assisting my aunt teaching others Math and English. I continued to tutor my college students during my college years and taught my own niece and nephew to love mathematics. My strategy is simple, the more you practice the faster you become. My aunt always taught me that mathematics is full of steps. If you are not strong at algebra chances are you are weak in addition and subtraction. Once you strengthen that area, the student takes off like a bullet. Math can be fun once you learn the steps. Her love of teaching certainly has continued to my generation and beyond. I work in the lower Manhattan location and live in Brooklyn in the Mill Basin area.

Additionally, studying the solutions to similar problems and understanding the reasoning behind them can also be helpful.

👉 What is the best approach for studying and retaining mathematical concepts?

Improving problem-solving skills in Mathematics requires practice, patience, and persistence. Try solving problems on a regular basis, seeking out challenging problems, breaking down complex problems into smaller steps, and seeking help from a teacher or tutor when needed. Additionally, studying the solutions to similar problems and understanding the reasoning behind them can also be helpful.

👉 How can I prepare for mathematical exams and assessments?

Preparing for mathematical exams and assessments involves reviewing and practicing key concepts, solving sample problems, and seeking help from teachers or tutors. It is also important to manage time effectively during exams and to understand the format and type of questions that will be asked.

👉 What are the common mistakes made by students while learning Mathematics and how can they be avoided?

Common mistakes made by students while learning Mathematics include not paying attention to details, rushing through problems, not checking work, and not seeking help when needed. These mistakes can be avoided by being attentive, taking time to understand the problem, double-checking work, and asking for assistance when needed.

👉 How can I overcome a fear or dislike of Mathematics?

Overcoming a fear or dislike of Mathematics requires a change in mindset and attitude. This can be achieved by breaking down complex problems into smaller parts, seeking help from teachers or tutors, finding real-life applications of mathematical concepts, and focusing on understanding the concepts rather than just getting the right answer.

👉 What are the career opportunities for someone with a strong foundation in Mathematics?

A strong foundation in Mathematics can lead to a variety of career opportunities, including actuarial science, finance, data analysis, computer science, engineering, and education. Mathematics is also a valuable skill in many other fields, such as physics, economics, and statistics.

👉 Why is geometry important for students to learn?

Geometry not only provides a foundation for understanding higher-level maths, but it also helps develop problem-solving skills and logical reasoning.

Learning geometry can help students better understand their surroundings. By grasping the basics of angles, points, lines and planes, they can make more sense of the world around them. Geometry can also help foster an appreciation for nature; by learning how shapes come together to form symmetrical patterns or structures found in nature, students can better understand our environment.

In sum, numerous benefits come with learning geometry—beyond just passing tests!

👉 How can students apply geometry concepts to real-world scenarios?

By understanding the basics of shape and measurement, students will better grasp how to apply geometry principles in various contexts. Geometric formulas can calculate the area and volume of shapes like triangles, rectangles, cones, and cylinders, which are vital for any construction project or home improvement task. With these calculations, students can accurately measure distances and angles when building things with wood and other materials or designing a room layout.

👉 How can teachers make geometry learning more engaging for students?

To make geometry learning more engaging and successful, teachers must provide an interactive environment that enables students to use their logical thinking skills through problem-solving.

The first step for teachers is to create activities that involve the use of multiple senses. For example, making models from everyday objects or drawing diagrams can help students better visualise geometric shapes and understand their properties. Additionally, spatial awareness activities such as mazes or puzzles are great options for helping students practise orienting objects in space. Teachers can also invite guest speakers from fields such as architecture or engineering who can provide insight into the real-life applications of geometry principles. This will help motivate students to see how these lessons apply outside the classroom setting.
