Experienced High School Math Tutor in Brooklyn
Hi! My name's Nick and I am a Brooklyn-based math educator. I have a BA in Mathematics and Philosophy from Baruch College (CUNY). For two years now, I have taught high school math both in a formal classroom setting and in one-on-one sessions. I'm thankful to have had the opportunity to help over 100 students from a variety of backgrounds and knowledge levels attain their goals. Particularly, I have a great deal of experience helping students prepare for the SAT's and the NYS Regents Exams (all subjects). I guide students through the process of deciding on a exam score to aim for, and then we work to attain that score. I'm happy to report that students I work with almost always achieve their desired score.

Elementary and Middle School Math is my gig here in MInneapolis! Lessons in Spanish/bilingual too!
Hello! My name is Miss Anna and I am excited to be your tutor! I have been teaching students in a Kindergarten through 12th grade setting in southeastern Minnesota for over 10 years. My school is in a rural area that's not too far from the Minneapolis/Saint Paul area. I love that I get to teach students at all grade levels. My back ground is in teaching English Language Learners, but I have experience with so many content areas. My favorite subjects to teach (and learn) are: Spanish, Math, and Geography. In addition, I am bilingual in Spanish and English. I have studied Spanish in University and abroad through an exchange. My current students are Spanish-speakers so I get to use both English and Spanish on a daily basis and I love it! Here are some non-teacher things you should know about me: I love to play piano and flute; so if you need help with your music classes, I can help with that too! I also really enjoy traveling and visiting new places. I've been to all 50 states and now am trying to go to all the U.S. State Capitals, all the Canadian Provinces, and all the Mexican states. My other hobbies are crocheting and being creative with wood projects. I'm excited to work with you. Please reach out to get set up with a tutoring session.

Excellent NYC Mathematics Tutor
Hello. I graduated from Pennsylvania State University in May of 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. During my undergraduate career, I tutored fellow students in a variety of maths. Upon graduating, I continued to tutor a bariety of math at a local community college until I was able to get my first full time job. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to continue tutoring, but I maintained a love for teaching and training and I always offered to teach and train fellow employees. I have recently obtained a new job which allows me more free time to get back into tutoring as I did enjoy the challenge of teaching such a universally difficult subject. I love math and I am looking into retaking the GRE exams so that I may attend graduate school. I think LearnPick would be a great place to start. I teach all math from elementary school math to pre calculus. I would love to tutor calculus again after some breif relearning. I reside in New York City and would love to either online tutor or tutor in person. I believe in person tutoring is more effective, but online tutoring provides the opportunity to students with busy afterschool schedules. I take joy in tutoring and helping young students to conquer mathematics.

These mistakes can be avoided by being attentive, taking time to understand the problem, double-checking work, and asking for assistance when needed.

👉 How can I overcome a fear or dislike of Mathematics?

This can be achieved by breaking down complex problems into smaller parts, seeking help from teachers or tutors, finding real-life applications of mathematical concepts, and focusing on understanding the concepts rather than just getting the right answer.

👉 What are the career opportunities for someone with a strong foundation in Mathematics?

A strong foundation in Mathematics can lead to a variety of career opportunities, including actuarial science, finance, data analysis, computer science, engineering, and education. Mathematics is also a valuable skill in many other fields, such as physics, economics, and statistics.

👉 What are the basic Arithmetic operations that students should learn?

Arithmetic is a fundamental part of Mathematics and understanding it is essential for students to be successful in their mathematical pursuits. In addition, knowing the basic arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division are key components in developing proficiency with other concepts.

For students to gain mastery of these operations, they should understand the principles that come along with each one. Addition involves combining two numbers and giving a sum total, while subtraction requires taking one number away from another to determine the difference between them.

Multiplication combines two numbers together multiple times, while division breaks down larger numbers into smaller parts or fractions. Other basic arithmetic operations include exponents, square roots, and order of operations which can help students better understand how the different calculations work together to form a bigger picture.

👉 What are some best practices for learning Arithmetic effectively?

The best practices that can help make the process easier and more effective-

The first step to mastering any mathematical skill is to have an organised approach. Start by understanding the basics of arithmetic you are learning, such as what operations you need to perform and how they work.

Break down the problem into smaller parts and practise each one separately. Developing proper study habits, including setting aside specific times for studying and dedicating yourself fully to learning during those sessions, will also help keep your progress on track.

It is essential to start with simple problems before progressing to more complex tasks to build your confidence in solving arithmetic problems. Keep track of your mistakes and review them from time to time so that you can understand where you went wrong and fix it accordingly.

👉 How can students develop a growth mindset towards learning Arithmetic?

Here are some tips on how to develop a growth mindset towards learning arithmetic:

The first step is to recognise that mistakes should be seen as an opportunity for learning instead of something to feel discouraged about. To do this, students need to understand the concepts behind their work instead of just memorising formulas or rules. When struggling with a problem, reflect on why it was difficult and what strategies could have been used differently to solve it faster or more efficiently.
